Poll question: If Michael Richards (KKKramer) participated in a Democratic campaign event...
Bare with me, I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the McClurkin thing. I'm not sure how I'd feel about Michael Richards doing comedy at a Dem event, but I'm interested in hearing what you guys think.

2. John Matthews and Linda Short
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that nobody cares about people heading a Democratic campaign who voted to put discrimination in a state constitution.

6. All views must be heard, or else we're as bad as George Bush.
Or so I was told here.

5. It's hard, because there's so many factors.
On one hand, Richards has apologized repeatedly for his racist tirade, while McClurkin is unabashedly anti-gay.

On the other hand, there was a legitimate reason for McClurkin to be there. He's a popular gospel singer. Richards is now a C-list comedian who's more famous for his racism than anything else; inviting him would just appear inflammatory.

8. 'there was a legitimate reason for McClurkin to be there'
No, there wasn't. There are plenty of singers without unabashedly anti-gay messages attached to them.

9. I'm sorry, I suppose I could have been more clear there.
The McClurkin invitation was completely unacceptable, I agree. I guess what I meant to say is that the McClurkin looks more like Obama simply doesn't give a fuck what gays think; he wants the singer he wants and that's it. That's horribly offensive, but it's not quite as bad as picking someone deliberately designed to offend, as picking Michael Richards would seem to be.
