Personally I think the national polls are bogus...
Why should I believe these "professional" pollsters who call a few thousand Americans... supposedly, over the hundreds of thousands of people that respond to on line events and votes. We already know from declassified documents that planting fake poll results is well practiced among the intelligence agencies.

I have about 83 people on my mailing list who I sent that "rate your candidate" quiz on line. So many were surprised that Kucinich ended up their closest match. I run into people who are completely undecided.

We are being messed with on so many levels.

The primary is a time to get together in your small towns and cities, show up at the caucuses, call your kids at college and get them to register their friends, and really hunker down and make some decisions regardless of what the MSM Polls tell us we feel.

They still feed us that crap that "most Americans supported the war until it went bad"! During the Congressional races in 2006 they predicted a lot of bogus numbers.

The internet was right and they were wrong.

Half a century old, I will believe my own lying eyes.

1. Polling methodology in this day and age are coming under fire
Telephone polls with cell phones being so prevalent are under serious examination these days. There are huge swaths of people out there that simply do not own a land line. And cell phones do not appear on pollesters call lists.

2. I don't believe them.
I just assume they're bogus and take it from there.

3. You say that like pollsters are unaware of that.
Simply google cell phones and polling or surveys. You'll find quite a few papers dealign with it.

In addition the demographic for having a cell phone only is under 30, single and renting which are all fairly low in terms of voter reliability.

4. Didn't mean to suggest that
Pollsters are quite aware of this issue. But they continue to churn out polls none the less.

6. Yes because they are developing ways to tackle it.
Much like they do with other under-represented demographics.

Pew published this in May of 2006. It may help give some insights.

Sorry if I came across as curt it was not my intention.

5. People tend to dismiss polls when their candidate has a poor showing

7. Dunning-Kruger strikes again! I have no doubt your ..
group of 83, randomly selected as it is, is more accurate than the "professional pollsters" in gauging actual national attitudes. Sure...

I, too, see Kucinich as my preferred candidate on these internet polls and candidate rating schemes, but what they don't take into account is that while I like his positions, I think he's a jerk and would be a lousy President.

I, very unscientifically, doubt that I'm alone here.

9. No I didn't mean that...
I know my 83 aren't any kind of perfect demographic. It is like tests that say "this group of people aged 40 tend to blah blah blah", but they don't say what their diet is, or who their friends are, etc.

What I mean is, the polls that tell me what Democrats are supposed to feel, do NOT match, at all, percentage wise, with my 83 Democrats and my 50 years of "life experience".

Have you ever had a doctor say that something is anecdotal? Anecdotal, as in... someone told me. Yeah! I like that! It sometimes works.

By the way, I am a very left of center liberal person, who was an independent until 2000 when I registered as a Democrat, in order to take part in my small town caucus and push to get Kucinich some delegates. I really like John Edwards after reading his book "Four Trials. I really like Obama after reading his book "Dreams of my Father". I admire Hillary Clinton and voted for Bill because he PROMISED universal health care in 100 days, and my family had none. I like some of what Gravel says about the Military Industrial Complex. Biden is handsome and sure seems right a lot of the time. Richardson has some really great qualifications. Dodd was extremely brave to put a hold on the Fisa Legislation.

Please do not see "agenda" anywhere. I just taught art all day and I am REALLY just sayin... :-)

Even too burnt to put in my normal Impeach bumper sticker sig.

8. The polls are always wrong. And always in the same direction.
:sarcasm:

Those who don't believe in polls are really saying they don't like the results of the polls - they wish they were different, so they must be wrong.

Total intellectual dishonesty, IMO.

10. "During the Congressional races in 2006 they predicted a lot of bogus numbers"
I seem to recall the polls being quite accurate in 2006... how else did I know the Dems would take the house? I'm not psychic.
