I'm watching this show on Masterpiece Theater, the Amazing Mrs. Pritchard...
It's about a woman creating a perfect political storm, quite by accident, and ends up winning the Prime Ministers chair...

Anyway, there was an arc about an airplane accident that could have been a terrorist attack but then again maybe not...

As the accident was being sorted out, several mosques in and around London were firebombed, middle easterners were getting beaten...

And I started to think, you know even after we were attacked so viciously on 9/11, we didn't retaliate internally...

And there were no real internal threats from muslim or islamic groups...

The reason, I suspect, why the US is different from Great Britain is that the US is founded on principles of inclusion over laid by a laissez-faire attitude about getting ahead in this country...

Britian, on the other hand, has a very long history of class and economic stratification...

Granted, a lot of the American Dream is just myth, but that myth is based on some truths...

But that tolerance is now being threatened by the dividerer in the White House...

By upping the partisan rhetoric, Bush, and his forbearers such as Lee Atwater, Newt Gingrich and of course Karl, tried to reintroduced virulent strain of hate...

Funny, it worked politically but socially, the opposite seems to have occurred...

The acceptance factor for those who are different is way beyond what you would expect after having St. Ronnie and Newt and the Bushes spewing hate toward their enemies for the past 30 years...

That could be a reason why so many people are turned off by politics...

It just doesn't jibe with a vast number of peoples perceptions...

Just some musings on a Monday afternoon....

1. Your musings are always worth reading...
And this is a look in a different direction than I'd done before...

The acceptance factor is one reason for optimism, I'd say...

One of the very few silver linings in our country today...

Thank you for this thoughtful, intelligent post...
