Edwards pleas: Take back government from corporate interests
CHARLES CITY — Former U.S. Sen. John Edwards ignored a prepared speech on education Sunday and instead issued a plea for citizens to take back their government from corporate interests.

Prior to his appearance at the Charles City Library, aides distributed press releases about Edwards’ talk that indicated he would give details on his education plan.

When he spoke to the audience of about 200, he touched briefly on education and then launched into his main topic, saying, “We could be the first generation that doesn’t leave America a better place for our children and grandchildren than how we found it.”

Dressed in sport coat and jeans, Edwards gave many examples of what he considers government inefficiency and corruption.

1. I saw Edwards today on "This Week"...
I have to say, he was incredibly impressive.

I have not yet decided who I am supporting, but Edwards sounded the
best of all the Dem candidates.

I loved that he called out our corrupt system. He connected the dots
between lobbyist money and how that rots our government. I don't think
that most people get how tainted lobbyist money is--and how these people
are literally buying influence.

I loved how Edwards explained that. He seems to really "get" the Progressive
agenda.

Again, I'm not fully decided---but I heard some very encouraging and hopeful
things from Edwards. He handled Stephanopolus well, too.

2. Edwards wants each of us to decide for ourselves.
I like that approach. Edwards' website has great videos that help you decide. I decided to support Edwards after checking out his website and also those of other candidates.

4. Here's a good article on the corrupt media by Marty Kaplan:
How To Bring America Together (Or, The Idiocy of National Unity)

Of course it's about how the media covers the candidates, and why they like to cause conflict, because nice is boring

6. You know where Edwards might be very successful?
If he could show people just how compromised local cities are with special interest. People know it, but because nobody is doing anything about cleaning it up, those who find themselves in financial difficulty become part of the problem by selling out.
