Tom DeLay targets US liberals in media war
Source: Sunday Telegraph

For a decade, Tom DeLay ruthlessly enforced Republican rule in Washington with such vigour that he was nicknamed "The Hammer". But the party's former leader in the House of Representatives will this month launch a national grassroots movement to combat the liberal activists who he believes outfoxed and outmanoeuvred Republicans to win the 2006 mid-term elections.

Mr DeLay, who revelled in his reputation as a no-holds-barred Washington operator as the party's chief whip and then majority leader from 1995 to 2005, aims to instil an army of conservatives across the country with his political street-fighting skills.

Funded by undisclosed Right-wing backers and inspired by the successful tactics of his liberal foes, thousands of recruits to the Coalition for a Conservative Majority (CCM) will be trained and mobilised to wage political war in meetings, online and in the media.

In one tactic borrowed straight from the opposition playbook, CCM volunteers will be issued with video cameras to pursue Democratic politicians in the hope of capturing a so-called 'YouTube' moment if they say or do something embarrassing or contradictory. "In my business and political life, I have always believed you should study and learn from the enemy," Mr DeLay, 60, told The Sunday Telegraph on the eve of a trip to Britain to take part in an Oxford Union debate on Thursday about the US presidential elections.

2. Why do they give this criminal recognition?
Tom Delay got caught cheating. He just can't get over his fall from grace. He was expelled from Texas and I feel sorry for the state he now infects.

3. Doesn't he have a criminal case to occupy his little mind?
My first thought was I wonder if Rove is involved with him. They're two peas in a pod.

Calling democrats the "enemy" bothers me greatly. It speaks volumes about his thoughts on the political scene.

5. He's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack....
I sometimes wonder if perhaps everyone should have left well enough alone. At least in Congress he was caged somewhat by even his own party. Now, well, he's like a rabid dog on the loose.

Given the power he amassed in Congress, the power he may amass out of Congress may prove even more dangerous.

I wouldn't count on his ever going to prison. Or even going to trial. Most likely the charges against him will be thrown out of the Texas courts the way the charges against Kay Bailey Hutchison were thrown out of the Texas courts. Thems that rules do just that. And always in favor of their own. And so, well, he's baaaaaaaaaaaaack.

8. He's back? No,the SOB never left. He's just moved his office and been
keeping a semi-low profile until he got re-organized and his shit back together in order to start undermining our country and its laws again. That's how they ALL are. It's called the Chalabi Syndrome.

6. When is this S.O.B going to jail where he belongs.
Let's all write letters to the Texas Bureau of Justice, Judges and what ever and ask when this piece of crap is going to be tried. It has been almost three years and he is still roaming the streets. Lock the bast**d up NOW.

11. Part of me wishes DeLay were correct, that there are legions of liberals
out there who are changing the political landscape, neutralizing the media, voting against destructive legislation drafted by *, enacting their veto-proof bills, and gaining new members on a daily basis.

It almost is heartbreaking to have DeLay become Don Quixote and the democrats he cites are windmills.

12. MN TV GOP interviewer on Franken and Cirisi
Local GOP talking head is sitting far away from the interviewer in a polished room, with NO decoration against a window with a blind. Polished floor mouthing the mantra the Dems are only running extreme far left candidates that can't possibly interest swing voters. However, this time the deep anger and strain (fear) was evident on his face as he spoke. Interesting scene.

I wouldn't be afraid of this idiot gaining any momentum.
He'll have his small group of crazy supporters but in the end,

that he was going to be in MY town next week. Aaarrrgggghhhh!!!

Wonder if the Oxford Union rules would allow people to turn up with some rotten eggs - alas, probably not!

Anyway, why isn't he in prison, and why is anyone still listening to him?

That said, I personally doubt that enough people over here know of Tom Delay for him to get a custard pie in the face.
