WaPo lauds Schumer and Feinstein
From a WaPo editorial this morning:

THE HALLS of Congress are too often filled with cowardice and groupthink. So it is reassuring when not one but two lawmakers show the moral fortitude to defy party politics to take a stand on principle.

Democratic Sens. Charles E. Schumer (N.Y.) and Dianne Feinstein (Calif.) showed such courage Friday when they announced their support for attorney-general nominee Michael B. Mukasey.

"A stand on principle?" What principle?

The editorial goes on to explain two reasons for voting for Mukasey, neither of which have anything to do with principle. There's the sticky matter of torture's illegality being in conflict with Justice Department memos, and then there's the rationale that there could have been a worse nominee. That's it.

Principle my ass. :puke:

2. John Dean's history lesson
Quote:Before the Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee completely cave-in to Bush, at minimum they should demand that Judge Mukasey appoint a special prosecutor to investigate if war crimes have been committed. If Mukasey refuses he should be rejected. This, indeed, should be a pre-condition to anyone filling the post of Attorney General under Bush.:end Quote

I can not link this piece "Talking Points Memo" has it so if someone would please run a link to Deans article.....

5. I was surprised the Post didn't endorse Bush in 2004.
I would not be surprised to see them endorse the GOP goon next year.
I don't read the Post anymore.
