"Counter-demonsrator" speaks out against our peace vigil
For four years a group of anti-war demonstrators have gathered at the local courthouse on Saturday mornings. In the past few weeks a growing bunch of "counter-demonstrators" have shown up to shout down and disrupt the peace folks.

The local paper has been running letters, pro and con addressing the "gathering storm". Here is a letter from today:

Anti American

First off, Let's correctly identify Karen Porter's group as not anti war, but anti American. And also correctly identify the counerprotestors as pro-troop, and not pro-war.
It's important that the American veterans and and other patriots who counter-demonstrate in West Chester let the public know that the people of Chester County continue to value our Constitution, our troops and the American way of life. The "peace" group appears to be composed of the "hate anything American" species and feels that Islam is good for us. Under the false guise of Quaker/Friends beliefs. theey seek to belittle the Constitution while seeking its protection when needed.
I'm sure the counterdemonstration gives the pro-Americans in Chester County, who are working and raising their children and leading a law-abiding life, a very good feeling to know there are those fellow citizens waving the flag and continuing to put themselves on the line to preserve and defend our freedom. We must let the radical anti-American demonstrators express themselves, but we can't let their radical beliefs destroy our democracy and install the Islamic ways they so vehemently defend

Bud McCullough
West Chester

Islamic ways? huh?

3. Here's a newsflash for Bud
Anti-war Americans are not just radicals anymore, nor do they all hate anything American. I would certainly challenge him to name anyone in your group who believes "Islam is good for us."

Where did this tool learn critical thinking? Oh wait... He didn't. He might also want to do a bit of reading on our Founding Fathers who believed that it was not just the right but the duty of the citizens to hold the government accountable.

7. yeah, Bud isn't the sharpest tool in the shed... his thesis statement
frames the debate, which makes it mere child's play to set up and knock down any straw man he sees fit.

Such is the neocon game plan.

a) redefine the argument under the constraints of neoconservativism.

b) Proceed with bogus argument as though it were actually credible, which it isn't.

c) For good measure, the MSM parrots this line until it becomes a part of the dialog, ultimately corrupting that dialog.

They've been doing it for years now, and the national dialog has become so muddled as to not even be intelligible.

4. Bud McCullough - liar, deceiver and enabler of a criminal regime.

Either this guy is severely tripped out on Bud Lite or he really believes his knuckle dragging drivel.

We don't "hate anything American" Bud, we just hate ignorant loud mouths who claim to know what is right and best for our country.

6. That reminds me. Whatever happened to the Protest Warriors?

Seem to have faded away since '04. Maybe they have been reincarnated in this group?

8. If the counter-protesters really WERE pro-troop
they'd be in favor of getting our troops out of Bush's quagmire and would be demonstrating with the anti-war protestors! "Pro-war" is the only description that fits them--and you, Bud.

9. Hang in there
Hang in there peace protesters. The war people will not have the resolve you have shown to protest for such a length of time. Their numbers will dwindle when the bad weather starts. I belonged to a small group of peace protesters that started before the war and had to break up a few months ago. Two of the faithful moved and I have had several surgeries that have grounded me. That left only one of us and it is too dangerous for one person to be out there alone. Keep the faith and thank you for your strength. And by the way, why aren't the war people in Iraq if they feel so strongly about continuing the war?
