Heres another example of where our society is rapidly heading...
Bus driver swarmed and beaten by trick-or-treaters
Gerry Bellett, Vancouver Sun
A Coast Mountain bus driver was swarmed and beaten by a group of youths on Halloween night after she stopped her bus to give out candies to trick-or-treaters.

Later her bus — a New Flyer worth $1 million — that was parked on Commercial Drive near Napier Street was set on fire. The incident began about 11:30 p.m. when the driver opened the door of her bus and asked a group of young people if they wanted candy, said Vancouver Police spokesman Const. Howard Chow.

She threw some candy to them but for some reason words were exchanged and the next thing the driver was dragged off the bus and beaten.

Chow said the assault was mostly committed by two aboriginal females dressed in Santa suits.

TransLink official Drew Snider said Thursday that after being swarmed the driver was too distraught to continue on her route and left the bus.

Another bus bringing a mechanic to recover the abandoned vehicle was dispatched but while en route a report was broadcast that the bus was burning and fire crews were attending, Snider said.

“The damage is quite extensive. We don’t know yet if it’s a write-off,” he said.

This was just one of a number of violent incidents that took place during Halloween evening in Vancouver. Chow said police officers were busy all over the city dealing with assaults and robberies by gangs of youths.

“They were taking advantage of the fact that they can disappear into the crowds who are always out on the street during Halloween,” he said.

Some of the incidents were:

- Alma Park. Two men were approached by a group of teens intent on stealing their belongings. The victims were pepper-sprayed. One managed to run away while the other was assaulted and suffered serious injuries. Two 16-year-old youths were arrested.

- Fourth and Wallace. Three males — one carrying a baseball bat — took fireworks and candy from a 17-year-old youth.

- Vine and 36th. A white BMW containing five people pulled alongside a 16-year-old youth. They jumped out and threw the victim to the ground and stole his iPod.

- Tisdall and 48th. A 16-year-old youth waking in a nearby park was struck with a blunt instrument and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

- 5300-block West Boulevard. A 17-year-old youth was swarmed, punched and kicked. The assault was seen by a police officer. Five persons were arrested, three aged 18 and two 17-year-olds. The victim was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.

2. I find this so despicable can't even express my outrage at these kids...
On the one hand one wants to ring there necks (as in kick there asses big time) and on the other we have to question what prompts this type of behavior? I wish I had an answer for any of this!

3. "two aboriginal females dressed in Santa suits"???
What is meant by "aboriginal females?"

Let alone dressed in Santa suits. Good grief, are the holidays here already?

8. Sorry for not being here to answer the follow up questions... Aboriginal means Native ...
(ie: Indian)... This is so disturbing in nature... The only conclusion that I can come to is what is going on in our world today is having an effect on our young people... My next guess is that parents are not able to keep their kids under control....

6. in 1906, a 10 year old and his younger brother
killed their mother with an axe, then hid her body in a shed. This was featured in the newspaper which later became the Globe and Mail. If anyone wishes, they can go to the Toronto Reference Library, and read all about this murder; it's on front page, about 1/2 way down the page iow it wasn't headline news in 1906 (people have always been rather nasty, i guess)...in the same edition, there's an article about someone who killed a homeowner when the gentleman answered the door (this little story wasn't even on front page)...the police believed the killer to be a 'tramp' and raided a hoboville in a ravine just outside town. Over 200 homeless people lived in shacks there....again, this was in 1906.
Within a decade, millions of men would die in a war that, to this day, no one can explain was the cause of (big shots fukking around, mostly)
In 1945 nuclear bombs were dropped on defenseless cities by silly fukks in publicly funded aicraft....
in 2003, the nuclear super power USA illegally attacked and destroyed a defenseless nation, killing god knows how many people (1/2 of Iraq's people are under 15 years of age)

7. While my city is hardly a Vancouver-sized metropolis, I witnessed a LOT

of highly questionable behavior and weirdness on Halloween night, some of which looked as if it was being committed by otherwise respectable citizens. It was freaky. And it appeared to me as if our otherwise ever-present members of law enforcement took the evening off last night (I was out on errands for three hours between 6 and 9 p.m.—didn't see a single police car or police officer anywhere).
