If Obama Played the Race Card, his Campaign Would Be Over
Why is Hillary Clinton's obvious playing of the sexism card being tolerated while Obama would be universally attacked if he said something was going on because he was Black? THIS is damage control? It seems like this will turn more people off than on.

1. This has troubled me for a long time. . .
. . .I fear that if he ever used the race card (when its warranted) he would be criticized endlessly.

If Obama could play the "race card" and not get blow-back, he would in a nanosecond.

For chrissakes, it's POLITICS.

3. I doubt his campaign would be over if he tried that...
...but does it matter? it's over anyway.

8. Only time will tell who is right!
I really do think he's made too many mistakes in the Donny McClosetCase fiasco to recover. For those who are supporting other candidates, this is the gift that keeps on giving. :hi:

9. We shall see!
It sure would be great to have votes counted before any candidate is dismissed!
He made a mistake and others have, none of them are perfect!:hi:

4. What do you think the travelling Snake Oil show in South Carolina was?
By doing that, he was making a deliberate attempt to pull Clinton voters away from her by reminding everyone that "I'm one of you". Remember, you don't generally have an "us" without a "them".

If that wasn't obvious enough, then the act of making sure the token peace-offering gay preacher was white should make it clear.

He blatantly played the race card, he obviously played the religion card, and he's chugging along just fine. Don't underestimate the ability of her to get away with playing the gender card. Her little solidarity snivelling at Wellesley SHOULD hurt if there's any justice, but whether there is remains to be seen.

10. "the travelling Snake Oil show in South Carolina"?
But I thought you were an Edwards' supporter? You know, the guy that says he's "most" electable because no one running on the down ticket in 2008 will want to be "seen" with the other frontrunners.....because.....

12. Obama NOT playing the race card is one reason I like him.
Identity politics annoys me.

And yes, this is definitely damage control on the part of Clinton, moronically done damage control.

13. I don't think she's saying something is going on BECAUSE she's a woman.
However, there is an interesting question here. A woman can joke about men, in some ways. A black man could not joke about white people in the same way. I'm not sure why that is, but I think it's the case. Maybe because there's not the same history of hostility and segregation between men and women that there is between races; it's just a different equation somehow.

14. Do you remember when he talked about "quiet riots?"

That made the wingnuts' collective heads explode. Too bad, really, because it appears we are going to have to wage the civil rights battle all over again. The abject disregard fueled by prejudice demonstrated during Katrina is a dynamic that requires healing.
