Lieberman backs Hillary, trashes Edwards
Lieberman backs Hillary, trashes Edwards
By kos--Wed Oct 31, 2007 at 01:55:00 PM PDT

----
I'm not sure this is the sort of support Hillary wants right now...

At his campaign stop last Friday in Iowa, since no one in the audience brought up the Kyl-Lieberman amendment, Edwards himself brought it up.

"Have all of you seen Bush and Cheney rattling their sabers about Iran? It makes you nervous, doesn't it?" he told the crowd of about 200.

Many voices in the crowd said, "Yeah."

"We've heard this before, right? We heard it in the lead up to (the invasion of) Iraq," he said. "We have to stand up to this president; we can not give him an inch. Not when it comes to an issue of war."

When informed of Edwards's remarks, Lieberman said, "It's exactly the opposite. I think Sen. Edwards totally misreads it. It's unfair to criticize Sen. Clinton for this vote. It was a sensible vote, a vote to try to use all the economic power we have so that we don't have to contemplate military action against Iran." <...>

As for Edwards and those who voted 'no' on the Kyl-Lieberman measure, he said, "They mistrust George Bush more than they mistrust the Iranians. Isn't that a sorry state of affairs?"

He wondered, "Do they not trust Joe Lieberman? Do they not trust me?"

Aside from the creepy third-person thing, I really hope that was a rhetorical question.

Because there are few people who trust Lieberman anymore.

3. More proof
The Rethugs are terrified of running against John Edwards. As an Edwards supporter, I have to say that Joe's endorsement of Hillary is just awesome!

4. Endorsement?
I think it was support for her vote, which would pertain to many other Democrats as well.

32. Why the hell not?
Turn about is fair play !! Big dog came to Joe's rescue here in Ct., and I'm sure helped him get elected!! They really deserve each other, and I lost respect for the Clinton's right then and there. I'd favor a guess that all of this "support" that Hillary is receiving, even here on DU, would disappear if Bill wasn't going to be in the White-house with her!!! YOU CAN'T GO BACK !! It will never be the same with the same old machine. I believe in the "Audacity of Hope" !!! We need fresh blood and ideas in this country.

8. This sounds a tad desperate to me.
I know Edwards apologized (for his vote in the IWR), but this is the same man who said the following:

"My position is very clear: The time has come for decisive action to eliminate the threat posed by Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction. I am a co-sponsor of the bipartisan resolution we’re currently considering".--John Edwards October 2002

Of course, he is referring to the Iraq War Resolution. John Edwards did some hawkish "saber-rattling" of his own in the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq.

Slinging shit results in a shit-covered slinger.

On the Lieberman issue you are correct, no one needs to have his shitty support.

I can't imagine Sen. Clinton asking for his endorsement! Nor do I think it will have a positive impact on her campaign.

in fact what happened is that Lieberman is defending Clinton for voting for HIS legislation. The Kyl-Lieberman legislation. Duh. Why wouldn't he. This isn't an endorsement.

But he writes "Lieberman backs Hillary," suggesting an endorsement.

20. “…we trade corporate Democrats for corporate Republicans..."
“…we trade corporate Democrats for corporate Republicans; our cronies for their cronies; one political dynasty for another dynasty…”

Excerpts from John Edwards’s speech
St. Anselm's College, Manchester, N.H
Oct 29, 2007
http://johnedwards.com/news/speeches/20071029-moral-test/

Whether we vote Democratic or Republican the fact remains, given how our election campaigns and legislative processes work and the corporate and lobbyist network that fund them, both parties are essentially serving the US corporate global agenda.

He would have gotten so m any votes, that the republicans couldn't have stole Florida and then he would have been President of the UNited States. I know people like my husband and me that said they felt like crying when they herd Gore's choice for V.P.
