Question about gay marriage & religion
Edited on Wed Oct-31-07 01:28 PM by Lirwin2
What would the rationale be behind someone not supporting gay marriage, when their religious denomination believes in full gay marriage rights for GLBT couples?

7. I'm asking about rationales though
How the person rationalizes it. A religious person rationalizes by saying "My religion is against that." How would a person who's religion is FOR gay marriage rights rationalize their position?

4. Probably the same sort of reasons why some Catholics support same-sex marriage. Or abortion rights.

Or the war in Iraq. Or the death penalty.

Some (many?) people disagree with their faith's teachings on some issues, including major ones.

Edit: I saw the later response of "with religious justification."
In that case, it's one of a few things: (a) Misunderstanding the teaching; (b) Misconstruing the teaching; (c) just plain confused; (d) just plain lying.

6. I'll probably get smacked for this but.
As in anything, there are disagreements. There was a time I didn't fully support ever tying my Church advocated.

I used to be Catholic, but even when I was still in the church, I disagreed with their stance on abortion.

9. Is it worse to vote for a gay marriage ban in a state constitution
and appoint people to head your state campaign who did that.

And ignore that fact because it makes your candidate look bad.

11. suggestion for your next poll: Is Iran seeking nuclear arms?
It would be interesting to see. (I don't have a star, or I'd post it)
