1. I heard that his apology was his ticket out of a censure vote.
RAther than face that, he caved. But knowing how dastardly these Repukes are, I wouldn't put it past them to renege...

2. No
there was a procedure vote that didn't pass but I'm hearing (albeit - only from hearsay) that he was threatened with a censure vote if he didnt' apologize.

5. That's what has me enraged
The pukes never apologize. William Pitt has a list on one of the threads that includes just a taste (which is like 15 quotes) of outrageous stuff said about democrats. Not an apology among them. Nancy sounds tough but when push comes to shove, she just doesn't play hardball.

6. Will's great list
doesn't include Jean Schmidt who after insulting Murtha, had to withdraw her words (within minutes) and apologize. Most of Will's examples are not things said on the floor while congress is in session.

7. I understand that
I didn't think that was relevant to the discussion. The point I was making was that outrageous things are said all the time and there is no pressure to apologize FROM ANYBODY - these things are often said in the press, on TV and all get a pass.

4. I had Ed Shultz on
in the car this afternoon and that's what he said. Stark got a call this weekend from someone in the leadership and they threatened him with the censure if he didn't apologize.
