Okay, I'm officially embarrassed by the democratic leadership....
Getting into a I'm more American than you pissing contest with the laughing their heads off dick heads on the other side of the aisle...

And now they are going to go against a middle class tax cut because, as Lott said so eloquently, there aren't a lot people effected by this law in my state...

I stayed away from politics for a few days because I was getting sick to my stomach, like a family member watching an alcoholic careen out of control...

Seriously...

The only thing I can think of is an intervention, send them video clips of democrats taking stands against the Right wing...

I just can't believe these people let them get sucked into such high school drama with the bully's on the playground...

I don't know...

I'm glad I'm getting a little on in years...

But then again, I remember leadership as it should be...

Maybe we boomer's are just too Milquetoast to stand up to a bully, we want to understand them, feel their pain...

And the people running for president...

If this truly is the best we have to offer the country, on both side, is it any reason people are fed up with politics...

None of our candidates are taking stands against the republicans except a few swipes by Edwards and Gravel and DK...

The rest, platitudes and meaningless feel good sound bites...

It's like a bad performance art piece...

I'm waiting for Laurie Anderson to pull back the curtain...

When we need FDR, Millard Filmore shows up...

"Maybe we boomer's are just too Milquetoast to stand up to a bully, we want to understand them, feel their pain..."

Totally agree.

Bullies are revered in today's culture. Why did boomers decide to let that happen?

6. I guess I can understand
I see why hippies hated adults. Looking back, they seemed like a bunch of creeps.

But from here on out, I hope we can put an end to it. In fact, I'm sure we will.

5. Welcome to the club!
I have no idea what happened to our courageous leaders...

It's completely disgusting...

We are so past time to understand these folks...

I just want to have them get up and get some serious work done...

But now I think they won't...

And I have no idea why...

I am beyond pissed!

Well said, as usual!

7. Corageous Leaders
Edited on Tue Oct-23-07 07:56 PM by djohnson
I'm just slightly younger than what is considered the boomer generation, but I have a few decades of good working years left in me.

Even though boomers are beginning to retire, I do not think they are out of the game. I think they can still influence what goes on. So here's the deal. If they can truly determine what we are worth I think all will be well. Do not use subjective rating systems, like who has the loudest megaphone, who has the coolest hair, who has the best taste in music, but someone who sincerely knows the difference between right and wrong. If boomers can support simple ideals such as that, I think all will be well.

How can we expect independent voters to be confident that Democrats can protect the country from terrorists when we can't even stand up to John Boehner? When our leadership caves every fucking time, we're telling those voters looking for leadership that they might as well look somewhere else.

When you say things like that, people don't understand that the congressional parts of the party are the DSCC and DCCC and they don't need our support because they have the lobbyists and corporations now.

9. Hippie Beads & Beatle Boots
I wrote a song some time ago and one of the lines stated, Some who wore hippie beads and Beatle boots, traded love & peace for 3-piece suits."
Ideals have been sucked into the parasitical usury system and vomited onto this plutocracy.
I really feel that the only way things will change, is for all of us to perform the tried, proved method, REVOLUTION!!!

Unfortunately I don't see that happening. Because if this was another country anywhere else on this planet, after all we have endured. Others would have conducted a million baseball bat march onto D.C. along tim ago. What is our excuse?

10. President Bush's success rating in the House has fallen this year to a half-century low
"President Bush's success rating in the Democratic-controlled House has fallen this year to a half-century low, and he prevailed on only 14 percent of the 76 roll call votes on which he took a clear position.

"So far this year, Democrats have backed the majority position of their caucus 91 percent of the time on average on such votes. That marks the highest Democratic unity score in 51 years."

Don't let the media rhetoric fool you. The Democrats have acquitted themselves quite well--especially given their bare majority in both houses, and a relentlessly obstructionist Republican minority.

The tactic of putting down the base has worked for a while, and it still intimidates some people.
