How Hillary Revived the GOP
OK, so what's wrong with this site?

How Hillary Revived the GOP
By Richard Baehr

A few months back, Republicans were troubled by the prospect of House and Senate retirements, the huge fundraising advantage for Democrats in the Presidential race and Congressional races, and the continued political overhang of the Iraq war and the President's low popularity. It is of course still possible, if not likely, that Democrats will significantly increase their Senate majority, hold the House, and win the Presidency. But the dynamic of the political races have taken a recent turn favorable to the GOP. And for that, the Republicans can thank Hillary Clinton.

The Hillary juggernaut is a boring story

Pretty much everybody, except Barack Obama and John Edwards, now thinks Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic nominee. She has opened a lead of 20-30 points in most national opinion surveys. She leads in the polling in every early primary state, and pretty much everywhere else as well. If she wins in Iowa, she is the certain nominee of her party. Even if she loses Iowa, it is hard to see how this would prove fatal to her campaign.

The Clintons are a political machine, and this presidential race has been 40 years in the making. The campaign has been meticulous, and cautious, and boring, but has enormous fundraising power, a national campaign infrastructure built on two prior presidential runs, plus the Clintons' star power. Finally there are powerful media sycophants who have been part of the Clinton team since 1991, as the two Clintons have traded access for reliably favorable coverage.

RW tactic. We on the left can think Hillary will energize the Repubx. just like RWers can. It doesn't mean we're like them OR that it should be discredited.

The seeking out rw hatchets to go after Hillary should be discredited.

I mean I am sure you find Rush playing Obama the Magic Negro incredibly offensive as do I even though he took the idea for that from a lw author.

She wasn't seeking out a RW hatchet. She genuinely didn't know. And my guess is because the article made sense. What did the article say that was wrong or insulting like Rush's BS? The truth is the truth-Hillary DOES unify the Repubs.

14. Which is another reason why Obama will lose.
His supporters are too ready to snatch anything, even pure poison, if they think it will help.

If Obama were more experienced, he would put a quick end to it...or make sure his supporters didn't brandish his logo when they set out to make fools of themselves.

12. if it can be read as anti-Hillary RW pundit essays get into DU-at least its a logical discussion
albeit it makes a lot of assertions that can't be proven, like:

With Hillary as Dem nominee the oil, media, Pharma, HMO. Military industrial/Iraq billionaires will give more money to the GOP than if any one else is the nominee (saying "the party's fund raising problems will begin to disappear").

And that two Senate seats will go GOP because of the great candidates that have been recruited (Governor Mike Johanns in Nebraska, and Congresswoman Heather Wilson in New Mexico).

and finally, that Hillary will lose more independent voters than any one else - even given the smear campaign that will hit whomever is the nominee.

Does anybody else think that when the General comes all the bashing by the Rethugs will actually help Clinton because even though it will energize the Rethuglican base it will also energize the Democratic base, and since there are more Dems than Pugs it will work to Hillary's benefit... Kind of like impeachment...

22. The website you quote mocks Al Gore and calls the Democratic Party, "The Failed Party"
That site has an article titled:

"The Nobel Prize Curse" which starts off with:

"Al Gore's Nobel may very well turn out to be the beginning of the end for global warming. How's that, you say? Surely Al and the International Panel on Climate Control, armed as they now are with the great cachet of the Nobel, will sweep away all oil-company-inspired opposition and bring the Green revolution to completion. We'll all be riding unicycles to work and recycling our nail clippings come next Tuesday, and be happy doing it, lest Al, watching from the big house in Nashville, be made unhappy and give orders to have us sent to Prudhoe Bay to feed moss to the caribou."

Another article on that web-site is titled:

"The Failed Party" and it begins with:

"The Democratic Party hasn't just taken over the title of The Stupid Party, as Professor James W. Ceaser characterizes it in his much-admired article of the same name in The Weekly Standard. Professor Ceaser insightfully argues that today's Democratic Party is what it is because of philosophical diffidence readily exploited by the bullying of a "network of techno-thugs," all Leftists."

That article ends with this quote:

"The future of the nation will not be decided by a renewed liberalism, but by a principled, dynamic conservatism."

The site is obviously designed to appeal to conservative Republicans and its objective is contrary to liberal, progressive and Democratic ideals. The site also has blogs that defend the comic Rush Limballs (as well as a ridiculous article which defends Alberto Gonzales and accuses Democrats of "playing political games with national security"). So, basically (to answer your question), the site is a big steamy pile of dog poop: that's "what's wrong with this site".

My mother was born in Chile and I am currently living here checking it out and seeing what life is like down here. So far, I love it. Santiago is a big modern city...not unlike Los Angeles in certain qualities. One thing I did learn is that they hate it when someone from the U.S. refers to themselves as "American". They refer to Americans as "Norte-Americanos". Another thing is that they HATE George Bush. I'm more than happy to inform them that I share their disregard (and lack of respect) for the pResident.

I don't wanna know where you get it.... :eyes: but the split second notification must be very reassuring ... Wish you'd sell it to our hapless Government. :D

60. One question a liberal needs to ask some-
one on the right. If Rudy is your nominee and you have labeled Democrats as being "baby killers" because of their stand on being "pro choice" how can you support and vote for Rudy who is also pro choice? and second How can this not make you a hypocrite?

I thank you
Ben David
