Why did Stark cry during his apology?
Edited on Tue Oct-23-07 12:08 PM by 2rth2pwr
Was it because he truly was repentant and was overwhelmed with sorrow that he had made such a statement? Or was he in tears because his arm was twisted so far up his back by the Dem leadership?

And which is worse?

20. "Please" what?
You don't think the neocons are capable of getting their hands dirty? Just look who they sent the anthrax to in Sept 2001. Just listen to the violence their mouthpieces in the talk show circuit threaten every day. And who do you think the NSA was wiretapping & gathering information on before 9/11? People like Pete Stark, thats who.

WAKE UP! There are some members of the GOP that are perfectly willing to kill you because you and anyone else who disagrees with them. And those are the people in power.

21. No, I don't believe for a minute
That neo-cons are beating on his wife or holding his kids hostage.

Jesus, if it took that much to make dems act weak, they must have half of their families hostage by now and they would all be covered with visible bruises.

32. The GOP leadership is made up of fascists.
Fascists kill people. THATS WHAT THEY DO! And Boehner doesn't have to literally hold gun to his head, just an anonymous word here or there, or a pic of one of his family members walking down the street delivered to him...

30. The "Randi got mugged" story started
because Randi sent an email to the station saying she was mugged, then was out of touch for two days.

16. Maybe drugged, brainwashed, threatened with physical harm,
family held hostage, got an anthrax letter, blackmailed with pictures of him and Larry Craig, saw a ufo, Bilderburgs, New World Order, Lizoids, building 7, and locusts.

3. I didn't see him crying, although it's being reported that way.
And I didn't think it was a mealy-mouthed apology either. It was clear he was being put up to it, but he sincerely wants the focus on healthcare for kids and the war.
I thought he handled it with class, although he shouldn't have to f'ing apologize for anything.

5. Because he's an emotion-driven child.
As I said elsewhere, he has a long history of this sort of behavior. He's got his good points, but he's not someone to be relied on. This time, instead of just faulting the Congressional Democrats (much as they deserve it) and Stark himself, maybe we should take the useful lesson of the need to look at people's records and histories before we elevate them into standard-bearers, only to feel let down days later.

28. That's uncalled for
Anybody with a backbone and a habit of speaking out will piss people off a few times in 34 years of continuous office-holding.

This is the man who, when explaining his vote against the IWR in a speech on the House floor, turned to Hastert and said: "the bottom line, Mr. Speaker, is that I do not trust this President and I do not trust his advisors."

He is a towering giant of decency, and he doesn't pretend to be anything more than one of the 435 voices for the people; his magnanimity in this stance is to be lauded.

24. Being forced to say something that in his heart did not ring
true.

All these forced apologies are beginning to bother me.

The Media force celebrities to "apologize".

It has been my experience in life that only heartfelt apologies
matter. A person comes forth on their own.

We only force people underground and resentment builds up.

Eventually we are going to have unrest in the country from
pent-up anger.

I find it interesting--It is always Democrats who apologize.

The GOP have said some pretty awful things. As long as they
are taling about Democrats==that is okay???

There should, IMO, be some space allowed. On Critical Issues
Passions fly--sometimes people blurt out things.
Nothing Stark ssid killed people. Think about it.

26. I think crying is a genuine way to let your feelings out
man or woman. My question has to do with what caused those feelings, genuine sorrow or the pain of having to do something he really did not want to do.

When have the Republicans ever apologized for any of the truly awful things they've said and are saying about
Democrats? Meanwhile, Democrats bend over to be paddled everytime.
