"In an informal poll of Fortune 500 CEOs and CFOs we found a web of corruption extending its tendrils directly into the gleaming spires of corporate America. One CEO we spoke to, on the condition that he remain anonymous, explained why he and others in his firm had shoveled literally hundreds of dollars to the Clinton and Obama campaigns:
"They seem like they might win," he said, turning away ashamedly. "I'm not proud of it... I mean, I know we should be giving to Mike Gravel, but then you get that little voice... you know, 'don't do it... Gravel will just spend the money to pay off his credit cards.'"
"Would you call it a culture of corruption?" I asked.
"Yeah, sure... I guess. I mean, it's like the Indianapolis Colts. Back when they sucked I didn't like them, but then when they got good I bought a Colts cap. Everyone likes a winner... I'm not the only one, you know. I mean, I'm not the bad guy here" (snip)
