Time for John CONYERS to get IMPEACHMENT through Judiciary Committee
C'mon Mr Conyers!

Just so that people in the general discussion group know the status of US House Resolution 333

House Resolution 333 is a resolution submitted to the House of Representatives by Representative Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) during the 110th United States Congress that, if passed, would impeach Vice President Dick Cheney on three charges. The resolution was introduced on April 24, 2007.

Summary
Wikisource has original text related to this article:
US House Resolution 333

Current status

The resolution has been referred to the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties, chaired by Congressman Jerrold Nadler.

Neither the subcommittee nor the full Judiciary Committee, chaired by Congressman John Conyers, has yet scheduled a hearing on the resolution. Absent a positive referral from the Judiciary Committee, the only way the resolution could reach the floor of the House is with the approval of the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

Failure of the Judiciary Committee and Speaker Pelosi to act favorably would result in the resolution remaining in committee indefinitely, where it would never receive a vote.

The resolution charges that Vice President Cheney:

1. has purposely manipulated the intelligence process to deceive the citizens and Congress of the United States by fabricating a threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, as well as
2. fabricating a threat about an alleged relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda, in order to justify the use of the U.S. Armed Forces against Iraq in a manner damaging to U.S. national security interests; and
3. in violation of his constitutional oath and duty, has openly threatened aggression against Iran absent any real threat to the United States, and has done so with the proven U.S. capability to carry out such threats, thus undermining U.S. national security. <1><2>

The resolution was authored and submitted by Congressman Dennis Kucinich, a representative of Ohio who is also a presidential candidate in the 2008 election. Congressman Kucinich has made available more than 45 documents supporting the articles of impeachment at his Congressional website, including at least 15 for each article. <3>

Either Conyers is full of it, or the article is. Is AfterDowningStreet.org a reliable source?

12. Carlin said it well
Instead, he applied sanctions, so he'd be sure that an extra half a million brown children would die. And so his oil buddies could continue to fill their pockets.

If you want to know what happened in the Persian Gulf, just remember the first names of the two men who ran that war: Dick Cheney and Colin Powell.

Dick and Colon.

Someone got fucked in the ass.

8. The first step in redefining our national identity - Impeachment!
If there is such a thing as a national conscience that can be restored, it has to start with impeaching these criminals.

11. Treason and bribery are at the top of the list of their crimes.
I would challenge anyone reading this post to list a single criminal statute that they believe these guys have NOT violated.

18. Conyers Is Impotent
It seems his pre-election promise to impeach was contingent upon Madame Squeaker of the House allowing him to keep it. She decides if anyone sets the table or not.

I just wish he'd stop parroting their pathetic rationalizations for inaction and tell us the truth.

It's sad to see someone of his (former) stature getting dragged into complicity with torture and war crimes.

21. I don't know. But "discussed it" would probably not capture any "exchange."
It is certain that the actual merits of impeaching haven't made it to any discussion.

Avoidance of the issue is the only thing on their agenda.
