1. You just need to get a digital converter.
At least, that is the way it is here (SF Bay area).

2. That is terrible kick for answers
I have the hateful Time Warner but it is still messed up.

I'm sure if Comcast gets away with it,TW will follow.

3. I'm getting a digital converter box tomorrow morning.
I have basic service, and it's only supposed to cost me an extra dollar a month. They've only moved Court TV and AMC, but now I'm concerned...

11. Yeah, but you have to have a box . . . unless you get a new TV -- right?
And that means having a cable guy come -- !!!!

12. Congress should stop this -- Comcast has deleted C-span II from our line up --
Edited on Sun Oct-14-07 02:07 AM by defendandprotect
so they can telecast it in High Definition . . . REALLY????

Couldn't by any chance be an effort to block info on what's going on in government, could it?

These people have very aggressively destroyed C-span II in the years since their buy-out.

One year, before a major election, they changed all the channel numbers like two days before!!!

AND . . . we were recently notified by Comcast that our bill would increase BECAUSE of Verison's coming into the mix and because of some decision that government made -- !!!!

As we say regularly, unregulated capitalism is merely organized crime --

And Comcast is a nasty bit of work --

Dear (Northern New Jersey) Comcast Customer:

Like the rotary telephone, the typewriter, and cassette tapes...older technologies become obsolete. Just like these items, analog TV service is becoming a thing of the past, and we are moving to an all-digital world...

...We will launching several new channels in your area...(and)...shifting...(AMC, CourtTV, and Leased Access)...to new locations...(A) digital box or digital service will be needed...for as little as $1 more per month with a subscription to our Standard service...(S)imply call...to arrange for a digital converter and remote to arrive at your home in 3-5 business days...

Nothing to suggest that any of my standard service channels will be transfered to one that requires pay, but that's not to say they might try to pull it a few months down the road.

4. MSNBC may no longer be providing analog service. Eventually there will Be No Analog TV
Edited on Sat Oct-13-07 08:44 PM by mcscajun
channels at all. This has been in the works for some time. It's not that MSNBC is now a pay channel, it's just part of the gradual shift to all digital TV. Note that this is NOT the same as High-Definition TV (that's a whole 'nother animal.)

Read more here: http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/digitaltv.html

Time to get the digital cable box.

5. no proof but
seems lots friends started watching MSNBC. about a month later they suddenly have to pay more to get it. they would need to upgrade their subscription??? seems to me they are attempting to curb the viewership. by monetarily eliminating masses of people. (with comcast)

7. All our news shows are on the upper tier of digtial.
but if the put MSNBC on the pay per channel like the movies, than someone should sue and tell them they are discriminating against you and unless the put CNN and Fox there also you will sue.

8. Analog is going away. Might as well get with the program now.
It's unfortunate, but even over the air broadcasts will be harder to get. If the signal sucks, at least you could get it--that's gonna be a bygone memory, those snowy channels and fidgeting with the rabbit ears, I guess....

Cable Converter Boxes for All Americans? These a**holes have had a hand in this hellish CONSOLIDATION mess ... they need to start *giving back* to The People instead of kissing up to the Cable Outlets. :grr:

How much f**king profit for CABLE Outlets is too damn much?!? :(

15. Hell, MSNBC on Pay Channel is fine by me, then bring Hallmark back to basic digital?
It would be grand ... that way I will not be tempted to listen to that scummy Tweety nor Whora O'Donnell. True, I'd miss Oberman but there's always You Tube.

Yes, MSNBC please go to pay tier! BTW, take CNN and FOX with you. ;)
