Clinton preferred over Giuliani in US race: poll (51-39)
Clinton preferred over Giuliani in US race: poll (Washington Post-ABC News)

Thu Oct 4, 9:27 AM ET

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Democrat Hillary Clinton would beat Republican Rudolph Giuliani in the race for the US presidency if the election was held now, according to poll data released Thursday.

Senator Clinton, wife of ex-president Bill Clinton and the strong front-runner for the Democratic nomination for next year's election, held a 51-43 percent margin over Giuliani in a Washington Post-ABC News poll.

The poll showed Democrat voters favoring Clinton over Giuliani by 88-9 percent while independents were for Clinton 48-44 percent. Republican voters preferred Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, 88-10 percent...

This is a big bump for Clinton. I believe its because she announced her healthcare plan recently. Another factor is the party ID advantage we have, which (I believe) accounts for a large part of her advantage in this poll.

1. 'I believe its because she announced her healthcare plan recently.'
I am not picking a fight with you, believe me, but her health care plan is horrible. I don't think that is influencing these numbers.

I am extremely heartened by this poll, though!

6. Did anyone even read it?
I honestly don't think anyone (other than us) read the thing. Its her big issue, and she made headlines with it recently.

Not picking a fight with you. These are great numbers.

5. Hillary is a decent person and Rudy G. is a scumbag.
He will do poorly in New York because he is well known there.
Hillary will have the resources to expose whatever scumbag the GOP decides on.

9. That lead among independents is pretty poor
A four point lead among independents is not impressive.

Giulliani's popularity has been collapsing since the beginning of the year. The guy comes off really scummy. His own kids won't talk to him for God's sake. And is it just me or is his speaking style AWFUL? He sounds like he has a lisp! I still think the media will resurrect the Rudy 9/11 hero myth though.
