Burma or Myanmar? You decide!

I wondered about that. Now that I know this, I will refer to this country as Burma. I always connected the country with Burmese cats. The nerve! I didn't care for the name of Myanmar, anyway. But that is just me.

This video gives a little history about whether the name Burma or Myanmar. I did not know the rest of the world calls it this Burma, but the U.S. calls it Myanmar. Find out why the America news media refers to the Southeast Asian nation as Myanmar, while the press in the rest of the world usually refers to that nation as Burma. Calling that nation Myanmar is a tacit method of showing support for the military junta in Rangoon. While referring to that nation as Burma, shows respect for the elected parliament and support for democracy. Which the Stalinist news media in America will not do.

2. I have traveled to Myanmar and the people there refer to it as "Myanma"

I used to refer to it as Burma, but since the people who live there prefer to call their country Myanmar...I think it defies logic to refer to it by any other name.
