Sunday Show Reviews: Hillary 'In terrific form,' 'Presidential,' 'Gutsy'
WASHINGTON POST’S EJ DIONNE - ‘THIS MAY BE THE BEST WEEK HAD SINCE SHE GOT ELECTED TO THE SENATE IN 2000... WHAT HILLARY’S DONE IS TO TAKE HER WEAKNESSES AND TRY TO TURN THEM INTO STRENGTHS.'

NYT’S DAVID BROOKS - HILLARY 'DOESN’T HAVE TO GO AFTER ANYBODY, SHE JUST HAS TO BE WHAT SHE WAS ON YOUR SHOW. SHE LOOKED PRESIDENTIAL TO ME.'

CBS NEWS’ JOIE CHEN - HILLARY IS 'SOUNDING MORE THAN EVER LIKE THE DEMOCRAT HOLDING ALL THE GOOD CARDS.'

FOX NEWS’ BRIT HUME - 'I THOUGHT SHE WAS IN TERRIFIC FORM' YOU THREW HER SOME TOUGH QUESTIONS AND SHE HANDLED THEM ALL IT SEEMED TO ME VERY SMOOTHLY.'

POLITICO'S BEN SMITH: HILLARY 'BEAMED HER WAY THROUGH' SUNDAY TALK SHOWS AND WAS LEFT 'UNSCATHED POLITICALLY AFTER THE TOUGHEST GRILLING WASHINGTON HAS TO OFFER.' "Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton beamed her way through a barrage of questions from five political talk show hosts Sunday morning, appearances that offered some details of her plans on health care and the war in Iraq, but left her basically unscathed politically after the toughest grilling Washington has to offer."

LA TIMES’ JIM PUZZANGHERA - HILLARY 'REINFORCED HER POSITION AS THE DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL FRONT-RUNNER SUNDAY.' "Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton reinforced her position as the Democratic presidential front-runner Sunday as she executed the rare feat of appearing on all five major TV talk shows in one morning, defending her new healthcare proposal and vowing to oppose any Iraq war funding unless it is tied to starting a U.S. troop withdrawal."

POLITICO'S JOHN HARRIS - HILLARY 'WAS REALLY PROJECTING HERSELF IN THIS INTERVIEW AS A FUTURE PRESIDENT.'

NYT'S DAVID SANGER - 'THE STRENGTH OF HER ANSWER ON THE SYRIA QUESTION... REALLY STRUCK ME.'

CNN’S WOLF BLITZER - 'IT'S A GUTSY THING FOR HER TO DO, TO GO IN FRONT OF ALL THE SUNDAY MORNING TALK SHOW HOSTS IN ONE FELL SWOOP.'

Clinton speaking in Iowa about what the next president will inherit and what she would do:
http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/speech/view/?id=2366

As a result of these failures, the next President will inherit some of the greatest foreign policy challenges in our history. Rising terrorism and extremism. Frayed alliances. And the increasingly difficult task of restoring American leadership in a world that has come to view our nation with suspicion and mistrust.

We cannot effectively address any of these challenges if we continue our military engagement in Iraq. As long as we stay there, our military strength will continue to erode. Our standing in the world will continue to decline. Our enemies in the region will continue to exploit our failures. Our occupation will continue to serve as a recruitment tool for terrorists. Our support for Afghan democracy, our conflict with the Taliban, and our hunt for al Qaeda will continue to be compromised. And our brave men and women will continue to lose their lives and suffer grievous wounds.

Clinton speaking out of her other face like she has already won the election?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/09/23/AR2007092301099.html

"You know, I'm not going to get into hypotheticals and make pledges, because I don't know what I'm going to inherit, George.

If we elect her we are asking for more of the same, she says what you want to hear and does what benefits her and her people, the wealthy and corporations. Give her a two months and she has already changed her position on a very important issue, war and the deaths of innocent people. Voted for the war, funded the war and will continue policies of war for profit. Vote for her if thats what you want for our country.

3. How long before the Repubs start calling her "Slick Hill"? As a takeoff of the...
"Slick Willy" they called her husband?

You heard it here first, folks! Believe you me, that name is coming down the pike soon!

4. I'm not looking forward to what they have to say about her
if and when she secures the nomination and the gloves finally come off. The whores will explode with a fury of pent up hatred they've been saving for the general election. When you hear Brit Hume (aka Shit Fume) waxing poetic about her, you know something stinks big time.

7. I was waiting for more specitics about the re-deployment of
the troops and costs of her health care program (which I am not fond of, so far)....too open ended, too many generalities but done with flair.

She had ample opportunity to state that the Move-On Ad was bang on and that Petraeus has a know history of lying about the situation in Iraq.

Edited on Mon Sep-24-07 11:13 AM by Kuni
Did Obama get up and shoot off his gate and claim that he would “Be our guy in standing up to the Right Wing machine”? I didn’t fucken think so.

But if it makes you happy; he appears to be as a big a pussy as Hillary is.

12. I wonder what would happen if they gave DK the same chance?
Dennis the K has been basically shut out of the media.

I wonder how his poll numbers would do if the talk shoes gave him as much access as they gave Hilary.

At the very least, he'd get a lot of people thinking "Hmmmmmm...Why aren't the otehr candidates as open and honest and supportive of the real needs of real people?"

14. Was not impressed with "Queen Hillary"
Her whirlwind of hitting all the political shows this past Sunday did not plant in my mind her attempt to view her as the candidate to support. Plus it was a set up to allow the public to visually and mentally see her as the candidate of choice. She continues to evade her decisions on the Iraq war and continues to display bad judgment in her ability to anticipate and see future problems. Instead, she prefers to blame others for her actions (vote for the war, blame Bush, First, blame yourself, she won't. A stubborn person who believe she's right. sounds familiar)? Plus her decision to vote on the Peterus ad was stupid. With the Iraq war as the main focal point, she allowed the Repubs, along with other Dems, to sucker her (she's gullible) into a useless vote ploy to demean themselves (common sense). Plus adding insult to injury, the Repubs rejected the Dems Iraq vote last week (stupid). She voted no but why vote on the Peterus ad in the first place? The vote was total bullshit and she could did not see that beforehand (lack of vision). What she should have done was walk out and call it for what it was, cheap political points (a show of strength). Commander In Chief? Common sense? Change candidate? What's need for this country? I don't so. She's educated, but lacks the experience, extremely gullible and worse of all, no common sense and not smart enough to lead.

I commented to another post with this thread because it needed to be said again.:dem:

She admits she made mistakes trying to get health care through in '93. She admits she made mistakes with her war vote.

29. I was extremely impressed
I've always worried about Hillary's electability but found much of her politics pretty satisfactory. I was pissed about her war votes but understood she needed to look strong on security and I cut her slack for actually believing, like a lot of other Dems, that the president and his minions wouldn't lie about something so enormously important as war. A lot of us got our eyes opened there.

I've stopped worrying so much about her negatives. I think she can win over indies and no Republicans to speak of would vote for any Democrat. It's better to just keep them turned off and at home on election day.

HRC's not my first choice but if she becomes our candidate she's got all the time and money I can spare.

And yesterday, I watched her on three shows. She wasn't just good, that's too mild of praise, she was superb. She turned a lot of heads and changed some minds, is my guess.

35. I wonder if any of the Corporate Owned networks....
...will be offering any of the other Democratic Candidates a monopoly on that much FREE Campaign Air Time?

Little surprise that the Mega Corporations support Hillary, and will work to get her elected.
She will pay them back.
Look at $Millions of taxpayer dollars she will pour into the pockets of the HMO/Insurance Corps.

Hillary is a WINNER for the CEOs of the megaCorps, not so much for those people who have to work for a living.

So Big Business knows who will butter their bread,

And Big Media is "investing" in Hillary by giving her free campaign time and self congratulatory reviews.

There is no doubt who Hillary will work for as president.

My father used to complain that TV was ruining America.
I used to think he was an asshole.
Now I know what he meant.
