Typical. may sign. not get on board with the program. Just 'may'. Honesty and transparency are words not in her vocabulary.
ABC News' Mary Bruce Reports: Democratic Presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton D-N.Y., addressed whether she would co-sign campaign finance legislation put forth by her 2008 presidential rival Sen. Barack Obama D-Ill., in an interview on ABC's "This Week".
"I'm going to cosponsor anything that looks like it can move us in that direction, because my view on this is we're not going to get anything done at this point with the president, with, unfortunately, a Republican minority that engages in filibustering, but we're going to try to build a commitment to doing it," said Clinton.
The former first lady also fielded questions on her relationship with fallen democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu. Clinton, who returned the roughly $850,000 that Hsu raised for her campaign, admitted that it was "an unfortunate situation. My campaign and about two dozen other campaigns looked hard at our donors….We missed the fact that there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest. As soon as we found out, we took action."
When asked whether voters should be concerned about campaign finance violations, similar to those which cost her husband President Bill Clinton points in the 1996 election, Sen. Clinton reiterated her call for a public financing system.
"There are some ideological, philosophical, even constitutional objections, but I think we can overcome those and I don't see any choice. We've got to do it. Otherwise, the campaigns are going to continue to do the very best we can. We've even added additional background check work that we think is called for. But at the end of the day, we should be moving toward public financing," she said.
