President’s Iraq Report Proves It’s Still About Oil
Kucinich: President’s Iraq Report Proves It’s Still About Oil

Washington, Sep 14 - Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), said the so-called progress report released by President Bush today is an elaborate ruse designed to pave the way for the privatization of Iraq’s oil.

“The Bush Administration has no intention of ending this war,” Kucinich said. “They have given Iraq non-negotiable demands for privatizing their oil.

“The Iraqi legislature is blocking the deal, but the President keeps putting on the pressure. This is wrong, it’s a misuse of power and a violation of international law.

“We have no right to force Iraq to give up their oil and we have no right to set preconditions for Iraq which lead them to giving up control of their oil.

“This so-called ‘progress report’ is an elaborate ruse designed to pave the way for the privatization of Iraq’s oil. The Bush Administration continues to violate international law and Congress has the authority to call them into accounting.

“I said five years ago that this war was about oil and as events unfold it is becoming more and more clear that I was right. The idea of equitable sharing of oil revenues is simply a cover for the Administration’s ‘hydrocarbon act.’

“It’s time for Congress and the media to wake up and understand that our international reputation is being shredded by our conduct in Iraq and our unwillingness to adhere to fundamental principles of international law.”

1. More and more people are coming out
saying it. The result will be that more and more people will realize what this is about.

Good. It needs to come out.

4. I hope so
Still not much mainstream reporting on the oil law and its potential consequences. It's not something that makes one feel hopeful. Still, the battle isn't over yet--the oil law is not yet passed.

2. It is still about oil
I don't know how the American people can be so blind. The week we invaded Iraq oil price started rising and has not stopped.

The Bush group don't just want the oil. They want to control the FLOW of oil. OPEC has demanded that Saddam cut back on oil production for years. His refusal brought our Army into Iraq not his politics.

Now oil, previously $16.00 a barrel, is over $80.00. And, it's still rising.

The Administration had a plan and it worked beautifully (for them). That plan is still in operation and continues to work beautifully. (for them).

No wonder the President continues to back the war.

The number of Democrats agreeing with the Republicans on the war shows that the oil companies have expanded political contributions to include them too.

3. Who knows, maybe by the time he leaves office, he will finally speak
in honest terms about why he and his cabal did this. There is no possibility they believed this would stop al-queda, there is no possibility they thought there were WMD, there is no possibility they thought Saddam was coming over here or anywhere else. Millions of dead, wounded and displaced. Trillions of dollars of U.S. debt owed to China. ALL for the profit of oil magnates like Halliburton and Hunt oil, and their bushco bankers. C'mon Bushler, just f'n say it. You know we can't stop it now, so just say it.
