O.K., I'm feeling somewhat swayed toward Clinton after Clark's endorsement.
I do like Obama, and I haven't completely made up my mind...but the odds I will support Clinton in the primary have definitely increased, as I'm a long-time Clark supporter, and I respect his judgment. For all those folks who say endorsements don't matter, well, you're simply mistaken.

So, Obama and Clinton supporters, here's your chance to convince a Clark supporter previously leaning toward Obama but now feeling swayed toward Clinton to support your candidate. Have at it, but please play nice.

2. It's simple: Compare Clinton and Obama.
More than focusing on Clark's endorsement, focus on the two candidates. Which one do you think would do the best job as president? And, more importantly, which candidate makes YOU feel hopeful about the future?

Trust both your heart and your brain. More than Oprah, more than Clark, more than all the endorsements in the World... in the end it's all about you in the voting booth.

4. Yes indeed, to thine own self be true.
Which one do I think would do the best job as president? I'm not sure.

Which one makes me feel more hopeful about the future? Obama.

Which one do I feel most certain will not make a political blunder leading to defeat Party? Clinton.

Which one do I think can best deal with the right-wing attacks? Clinton.

And so on....

I'll have to see what transpires over the next few months.

7. I'm in the same boat as you - undecided.
My two top choices are both strong - but neither has a healtcare plan for adults and seniors yet, so I'm still waiting it out.

5. Exactly.
The primary is about no one but you and YOUR choice. You're saying that you trust Clark with your life. And that means you trust Hillary with your life and your future. And you need to put each of them to that test.

3. Sorry, as a Clarkie who supported Obama yesterday, I still support Obama today.
Clark has his reasons for endorsing Hillary, whether they be for something in the past BILL Clinton admin. or whatever other reason. But I'm still supporting Obama who had the judgement and bravery to speak out AGAINST the war while Hillary was cheering it on, and not even a Clark endorsement will make me think of voting for Hillary in the primary. I'd like an Obama/Clark ticket which is still possible.

6. i am starting to give up --
i am hearing so many moderate repubs say they would vote for her. the neo-cons have ruined the repub party. they have nowhere to go. they like hillary and clark's endorsemnet of her just reinforces their beliefs.

8. You didn't start out for Obama, did you?
Weren't you for Edwards or Clinton first, and then you moved to Obama for a few weeks...now it's Clinton. Before we expend energy trying to convince you to stay in the Obama camp, can you offer us any assurances that you are not a flighty, high-maintenance, potentially weak-minded person who will need constant reassurances once we've gotten you to reconsider?

9. Obama is the only one I've said I supported.

And it's open-minded, not weak-minded. I do have concerns about Obama's experience fending off right-wing attacks, for instance.

10. Don't give up on Obama yet, cal. There is a debate on Thursday.
Let's see what happens there.

11. What I think about Obama
is he needs to do something a bit bolder. The hopeful rhetoric is great. His idea of bringing the country together is great, and hopeful. That's what I like about him. The whole audacity of hope thing...but can we win on hope alone?

12. If that's the AARP forum in Iowa, Obama has said he won't be there
http://desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070824/NEWS09/708240378/1056

I'm not crazy about this decision either (but don't tell cal...oops).

14. The endorsement is more a calculation by Wes that Clinton will win
than it is a deep-seated belief that she is the best candidate.

I know, I live in his head. :P

As for Obama's ability to fight back, he's a great counterpuncher; just ask John Edwards, who got his rear-end handed to him in New Hampshire when he questioned Obama's leadership on the war issue. More important, he's not a lightning rod for the right like Hillary, who is being smeared 24/7 by Rudy, who will rise in the polls because of it.

Should Obama be the nominee, they'll come at him hard, but it will take him the better part of a generation to become the pinata that Hillary is. This isn't her fault as much as it is a commentary on the amount of time she has been in their crosshairs. One could also argue that the built-in hatred and distaste for her among a solid 40% of the country is a virtual guarantee we'll have divided government after the 2010 mid-terms and she'd be fighting for her life in 2012.

To be continued, I'm sure.
