Updated endorsement announcement from Clark's website.
Just got updated a few minutes ago....

Today, I am proud to announce my endorsement of Senator Hillary Clinton as President of the United States.

Senator Hillary Clinton has earned the support of millions of Americans in her campaign for president -- and today I am pleased to count myself among them. The world has reached a critical point, and we need a leader in the White House with the courage, intelligence and humility to navigate through many troubling challenges to our security at home and abroad. I believe Senator Clinton is that leader, and I whole-heartedly endorse her for President of the United States. Senator Clinton and I share a worldview in which diplomacy is the best first-strike tool in our arsenal; in today’s complicated global system, the United States should be making more friends than enemies.

Never before have so many Americans had our well-being so closely tied to world events. Our economic and national security has become more complicated than ever before, and we deserve a leader who draws on wisdom, compassion, intelligence and moral courage -- in short, we need Hillary Clinton. She is tough but fair, a rock-solid leader equal to the many weighty challenges ahead of us.

As I make this endorsement today, I realize this may disappoint many of you who hoped that I would run for President myself in 2008. But rest assured: I’m not going anywhere. I’m going to continue to speak out on issues I care about, to work with you to support good Democratic candidates who will help restore the kind of leadership we need in America, to make sure our nation is as secure at home and abroad as it possibly can be.

Your support has been absolutely essential – to our country, to our Democratic candidates, and to me personally. I would never have run for President in 2003 without your support – after all, you drafted me into the race! I can’t tell you how much it means to me that you’ve been standing with me since my campaign for President and right up until now. And we still have so much work to do.

Together, we made a huge difference in the 2006 elections. We helped 42 candidates win their races across America, including 25 candidates who flipped their seats from Republican to Democratic seats. Our Clark community raised more than $1 million for candidates, not to mention the millions of hours of volunteer time members of the Clark community provided to campaigns in every corner of our nation. And I am most proud of the fact we helped elect a number of veterans to the House and Senate. What a tremendous victory for America – and it wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work that you and I and tens of thousands of us put in over those 24 months.

The fight is just beginning for the future of America. Through WesPAC, you and I and thousands of other Americans will continue to play a very active role throughout this entire upcoming campaign -- to support strong candidates, to get them into office, and to get our country back on the right track.

Your continued participation in the political process is absolutely critical. I hope you’ll all join me in supporting Hillary Clinton’s campaign for President. And I hope you’ll continue to be active here at WesPAC as we support many candidates up and down the ballot in 2008, and continue to speak out on the issues.

I’m proud to endorse Hillary Clinton for President of the United States. But I’m not going anywhere, and I hope you’re not either. We have a lot of work to do in the months and years ahead to get America moving forward again – and I need you with me.

Thanks so much for everything you’ve done – and everything I know you’ll continue to do – for me, for Democrats, and for our country.

5. I Second That. Gen. Clark Has Made a Serious Mistake
A vote for Hillary in the primary is a vote for Giuliani in the general election. Too bad the good general doesn't see this.

8. I would like to know what the Clark supporters
think about this?

I'm not surprised at all....in fact I could have predicted this a couple of years ago based on some political gossip I was fortunate to overhear.

This has been the plan the whole time, folks. Clinton will choose Clark as her VP...if she is the nominee. There is no doubt about it.

Clinton gets key New Hampshire endorsement

New Hampshire state Senate President Sylvia Larsen, of Concord, formally endorsed Hillary Clinton for president this afternoon, marking one of the biggest endorsements for the New York senator thus far.
Larsen has been one of the biggest players in New Hampshire Democratic politics for a decade. In 2004, she was the first person to endorse John Kerry’s presidential campaign and helped guide him to his eventual victory in the New Hampshire Primary.
*
Larsen had said repeatedly that she wouldn't endorse any presidential candidate until the legislative session was over in July.
But after seeing Clinton on the trail in New Hampshire, Larsen said, she was "favorably impressed."

"I could not be more proud and excited to announce my decision to endorse Senator Hillary Clinton for President," said Senator Larsen. "After meeting with and talking to the candidates in this race, it was clear to me that Senator Clinton is the right choice because she is the candidate most qualified to hit the ground running. Families here in the Granite State and across the country are ready for change and Hillary Clinton is ready to lead. We need an experienced, strong and qualified leader who can get this country back on track."

And has hurt the party as a result.

Hilary stands no chance in the general election as a large part of the democratic party won't vote for her and the GOP can rally against her.

The only hope would be a strong 3rd party challenge who can draw from both sides.

14. It's the only way she can win, I'll tell you that.
Edited on Sat Sep-15-07 04:58 PM by Clark2008
And, it will still be an uphill battle if Thompson is the Republican nominee. She's got to have a ticket that can capture some swing vote Bubbas away from Thompson. That will be difficult and I can't think of another soul who could do it besides Clark.

However, Clark would help Hillary win Arkansas - she won't do it without him on the ticket.

That said, I'm not voting for her in the primaries. Heck, I probably won't vote because none of them inspire me enough to do so. But, if HRC becomes the nominee and puts Clark on as her VP choice, I'll immediately have bumper stickers made that say "Clark for VP" and leave off Hillary's name.

Well, you asked. :)

26. i respect his decision.
I don't know who I'll support, I don't feel passionately about any of them like I did for the General.

If Gore jumps in, I'd be very happy but that's unlikely to happen.

Clark is a remarkable man, he would have made an outstanding president. Al Gore too. But I'm not ready to say that about our current front-runners.

28. People are weird.
Some people are quick to dump Clark because he is doing something THEY don't think he should. Yesterday these same people thought Clark was a genius, a patriotic American and a man whose opinions carried weight...right up until he endorsed somebody they don't like. Instead of thinking, "Gee, Wes Clark is somebody I have always respected. I wonder if I should give this endorsement some thought?" they say, "I have lost all respect for the man." and "Remove him from Wespac." Like all the little armchair quarterbacks all across America have a better idea of what to do than Wes Clark does.

I get this same feeling when my husband bitches about Tiger Woods' club selection. He is Tiger-Fucking-Woods. He knows what he is doing.

30. A remarkable dynamic...
Gen Wes Clark in their eyes is (was) brilliant and his judgment represented their ideal as a potential president as long as he fit into their paradigm. Gen Clark is well aware one person alone cannot win a war and likewise the presidency. What sterling leadership attribute does General Clark exhibit they never will? There is no "I" in the word Team.

32. I love that comparison!
And really, your little analogy makes this easier to bear.

Over the past few weeks I had pretty much given up on hoping that Wes would run, but I was dreaming of a Gore/Clark ticket. It sounded so right, so absolutely perfect for what the country will need to fix the horrific mess it has become, that I just couldn't imagine it not coming to pass.

(I wonder whether Wes has any inside information about whether Gore is definitely positively for sure not running... because if not I would have hoped he'd hold back his endorsement until he knew for sure what the field would be. So to me, this is doubly sad... not only is Wes not running, but I wonder whether he knows for sure that Gore won't run either.)

Still, he's Wes Clark. And he knows what he is doing. And it's okay that I don't like it, because it wasn't my decision to make.
