At GOP debate, McCain says no to torture
CNN: September 5, 2007
McCain says no to torture

(CNN) — Arizona Sen. John McCain, a former prisoner of war in North Vietnam, warned his Republican rivals during Wednesday night's GOP debate about the consequences of using torture on enemy combatants.

"The risk is that when an American is in the hands of an enemy, that they will use the fact that we tortured people as an excuse to torture our brave men and women in the military," said the presidential hopeful. "I'm not prepared to expose them to that."

After his plane was shot down in Vietnam in 1967, McCain was held as a prisoner of war at the infamous "Hanoi Hilton" for five and a half years.

1. Hey John! Remember this?

Now, what was that about "not torturing"?

Asshole.

2. I think the torturing came right from the top, Bush.
Just makes me shamed to have him as our president. My God to think we have gone down this far. We have usually looked at our errors and worked at doing better but this is just beyond my mind. It is just putting people into a place where they are not your equals and feeling you can do as you like with them. We have always worked to get over that type thing even if it has been slow and madding at times. Not going back wards any how.

3. It is simply incredible that someone would have to say this in
the United States of America. On New Year's Eve 1999 would anyone have thought it? The uh-ohs (2000's) really suck.

4. If he doesn't support torture

why is he subjecting us to his candidacy?
