Deep beneath the wreckage of Ground Zero, rescue workers searched for survivors amid tens of thousands of body parts

Previously unseen footage taken by rescue teams working deep below Ground Zero in the immediate aftermath of the collapse of the twin towers reveals for the first time just how dangerous was the search for survivors following the attacks of 11 September 2001.

The footage, to be broadcast in a documentary, 9/11: Ground Zero Underworld, tells the story of the rescue and recovery mission, which saw workers battling to recover trapped survivors. But, other than the 18 people dug out on the first day, no survivors were ever found, and after two weeks the rescue mission turned into a grim collection operation for thousands of body parts.

what are the odds that, out of YEARS, we would just so happen to be doing military excercises, during the same few HOURS that the terrorists hijacked planes...

planes that NORMALLY would have been immediately followed, and shot down if necessary, yet...

the change in procedure just weeks prior to 9-11, about shooting down suspect aircraft....

there were so many coincidences...

but they DID get their new pearl harbor. 9-11 was a total success for PNAC, and the republican party.

it was the first day on the job for the FAA official in charge of handling hijackings, as I recall Randi Rhodes mentioning on her show a year or so back. Remember also that the tapes of the air traffic controllers were deliberately destroyed -- some FAA guy cut them to bits, disposing of them in multiple trash cans throughout the building.

9. What I find touching and amazing (and embarrassing) is that this is a British newspaper.

Have we even heard about this in the US? I hadn't. Is it being shown in the US? Haven't a clue. And, would the US media care one bit if the WTC had been located in London?? Not for a second.

We have a LOT to learn from the citizens of other countries.
