Bobby Kennedy Jr. Visits L.A.; Speaks At NeoCon Xpress
The headline got your attention, didn’t it? RFK Jr. at a NeoCon Convention? WHAT???

We know what you’re probably thinking: what on earth is Robert F. Kennedy Jr. doing at a NeoCon gathering? In Los Angeles, of all places? Who invited him, of all people? Were the Republicans smoking crack? How did he manage to even get in the building without being arrested and carted away by Bush’s secret police? Is the world coming to an end?

Okay, okay, we won’t keep you in suspense any longer...

8. I wish!
wish I had been there, Southern CA is a nice place to be this time of year, made even sunnier by RFK Jr.'s presence.:)

My report was culled together by various sources, one of whom *was* lucky enough to attend this curiously-named "NeoCon Xpress" conference and heard Bobby's speech.

Maybe they should pick a different name for the event next year. LOL:)

But I had fun writing the headline...made you look, eh?

2. If Robert Kennedy Jr. spoke at a cafeteria on the subject of pie crusts, I'd
stand in line to hear him.

Every era has a handful of absolutely amazing and inspiring people.

RFK JR is one of ours.

4. Hi, TC. I'm not sure where things stand right now, but RFK Jr may not
seek the presidency in 2008. It would be just fine with me if he did. He'd enrichen the dialogue instantaneously.

If he doesn't, I wonder what his next electoral step might be. Imagine a Democratic ticket with RFK JR as veep. That would motivate people to volunteer big time. There'd be some serious envelope-stuffing going on for our side. It would swamp the GOP's best effort. They hardly have anyone running as it is; and their field would pale all the more if Kennedy were on our ticket.

Imagine the electoral college map for a ticket with RFK Jr in the mix. It would be very formidable.

5. I just want a truth-telling REAL Democrat to run...
someone who will tell the truth while looking us (AND THEM) straight in the eye. Someone a bit of an angrey rebel. Someone as fed up with BOTH PARTIES as I am, and we ALL should be. And, someone who wouldn't be caught DEAD voting with or for Reublican initiatives and policies for this country.

I want someone I can TRUST to vote for. Is that too much to ask?

I don't know if he'll run either, but my signature line is mostly an "if you build it, he will come" shot of wishful thinking. I do, however, think it's a clue to all of us that three candidates of great integrity (no matter what you feel about their political stances, per se) have not thrown their hats into this race yet. Neither Al, nor Bobby, nor Wes has even made a move toward a run yet. And, that, as I said, should be a sign to us all.

TC

7. I see a bit of the rebel in the best historical figures, yes. They tend not
to be risk-averse, and they tend to locate the transforming combinations others overlook.

There are anti-Kennedy faction Democrats out there, but they are fewer and further between than they were when I was much younger.

It would be a true lift to have RFK Jr. in a high-profile public role. Agree with you that he could transform the way we think about "parties" as political entities. My guess is that he would emphasize the citizen input component into making a party rather than a party's role in proposing ideological planks.

Also with the Kennedys we get the classically educated mind and the expansive spirit that goes with it. Jesus knows we've been in the tundra of Bushdom for 8 years and we need to get back to a land of ideas. RFK Jr. would not disappoint in that category at all.

If you hear word of any such formal movement that might provoke his declaration of candidacy, PM me. I'd be very interested.

9. You're reading my mind, OC
My thoughts exactly. As of late, I too have been thinking about what a formidable Veep candidate Bobby would be in `08 (which of course, paves the way for a Presidential run in a few years).

Imagine a strong candidate like Edwards or Kucinich running with Kennedy. Would make a great ticket even stronger. I dare say unbeatable!

Did I hear somebody say "win-win?":)

(If you build it, they will come...and if they don't, we'll have to go to their house and drive them to the polls!)

11. I agree -- there'd be a collective sigh of exasperation by Republicans followed
by party-wide despondency, and finally, they'd all leap off a cliff.

Robert Kennedy Jr is hot stuff and I'm talking problem-solving here. I like a fighter. I like a fighter with an expansive mind. These Kennedys are cut from that cloth, and a rare, fine cloth it is.

6. I would love to hear him speak in person---shades of his dad & JFK
:loveya: :applause: :bounce:

I don't think he should run for president or Veep. I am afraid he'll be a target of RWnuts. :hide: :scared:

12. Did you know that his grand-daughter narrowly escaped abduction?
So it was reported in one of our newspapers in the UK today.

SOURCE: WHDH-TV, Boston

BOSTON -- The 10-year-old granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy said that someone tried to abduct her on Cape Cod Thursday, a source told NewsCenter 5.

Saoirse Rosin Hill, daughter of Courtney Kennedy Hill, was returning from playing tennis to the family's home in Hyannisport when two men drove up in a white van.

As the girl walked by the van outside the family's six-acre waterfront compound, one man asked if she wanted a ride but she ran away, the source said.

"Two white males, approximately 50 years old according to the witness, were sitting in a white GMC van. As the girl walked by the van, the driver asked her if she needed a ride. The young girl responded, 'no,' and just did not feel right about the situation and ran home," Barnstable Police Department Sgt. Mark Mellyn said.

(NOTE: Other reports say she ran to safety at a nearby post office. Also, one of the men in the white van was reported to be smoking a cigar.)

The girl told another girl about the incident, and that girl's mother told police. Officials said that they are investigating the incident.

"We are glad that they called and reported this. It is something that we would definitely take a look at," Mellyn said.

Courtney Kennedy Hill is the fifth child of Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Skakel Kennedy, who called police to thank them for their help in the matter.

16. This made me shudder
Luckily, she is a smart kid. She's obviously been taught well by her parents, she did the right thing to run as fast as she could!

She is beautiful, too. Such an adorable little girl. Have you seen her picture? Just cute as she can be.

Only thing I can't figure out is how she ended up walking by herself in the first place. Cape Cod is generally quite safe, but this could happen anywhere, even in the richest neighborhoods.

Not sure if this was a random incident or if there has been an unusually high number of attempted kidnappings of kids in the area as of late. It just seems mighty rare for Cape Cod/Hyannisport.

in today's Daily Mirror. You might find the very brief articles, nowhere near as detailed as the one posted by yourself subsequently, by using the Search functions on their respective wbesites, but I doubt if they would be included there on account of the paucity of the information contained. Sorry for my delay in getting back to you.
