What's your POTUS / VP pick
of those actively running for POTUS?
And can you tell me why you like the combo...what each brings to the party?

BTW - I'm still candidate shopping, and I really enjoy reading everyones strength & weakness assessments..its been very helpful in pointing me in research directions.

1. My choice for POTUS is Hillary
Mainly because in retrospect the Clinton years seem very appealing. In other words, it would be nice to have grownups back in the White House. The particulars of policy aren't nearly as important to me as knowing that the President is actually thinking matters through and weighing the possible consequences of action/inaction.

I know that's really not asking much, but it seems like it after these last 6+ years.

As for VP, I haven't given it much thought. I suppose that Gov Bill Richardson is the likely choice on a Clinton ticket.

4. John Edwards - Brian Schweitzer or John Edwards - Mario Cuomo.
In 2016 it might be very good to have Schweitzer front and center in voters' minds. He's terrific and would be a huge lift for the future of our party. And besides, the notion of 16 or more consecutive years of Democratic President-appointed Supreme Court nominations has a REAL good ring to it at our house.

Mario Cuomo is one of the defining Democrats ever, a great mind. His chance at running for president, but he has had distinct praise for Edwards and might consider serving his country as a vice presidential nominee. I don't think any Democratic president would find a better sage advisor than Mario Cuomo, and if Cuomo were involved in our national policy-making, the policy-making would go a whole lot better than it's going right now.

I'm supporting the Democratic ticket in 08.

6. I love Cuomo
but he'll be 77 years old come 2009, and he's been out of public life for well over a decade.

I worked on his first campaign for Governor. I just adore him. But his time has passed.

7. Just want to say thank you for working with any effort that sustained
Mario Cuomo in public service.

I was a volunteer for his mayoral campaign in the 1970s in New York. He narrowly lost the run-off to Ed Koch, but what a different world it would have been had Cuomo risen to the president in the decade afterward.

A great mind.

8. Kucinich/Boxer.
Kucinich because he's best on the issues, most consistently walks his talk, and puts people before corporations. He's the most likely to make sure that there is actual ACTION on the changes we want to see.

Boxer because I'd like to see a woman. Looking for a woman senator or governor to balance the ticket, my former Senator Barbara Boxer is good, and can be trusted to stand by people and is not afraid to be a liberal.

There are other women in the house I'd like to see move on up, as well:

I'd love to have Cynthia McKinney, Maxine Waters, Barbara Lee, or Lynn Woolsey.

12. That would be a very convincing ticket after a look at the electoral college
map.

And it could very well happen.

13. I think that's my pick too.
Democrats = Strong on coasts
Southerner = stronger in south than non-southern democrat
Southwesterner = stronger in southwest than non-southwestern democrat

Combine this with Edwards' populist message, richardson's foreign policy experience, and the fact that the repubs are probably gonna nominate someone from the northeast (romney or guiliani) which would crush their voter turnout among conservatives, that sounds like a winning ticket to me.

19. I had the pleasure of meeting S.R. Sidarth,
better known as George Allen's "macaca", at Yearly Kos. He's now working for the Richardson campaign and does believe "on paper" Bill Richardson is the best qualified to be President. I thought that was an interesting comment, which helped me "choose" my guy's running mate :D

It would certainly be a brilliant, compassionate and handsome ticket :patriot:

20. Edwards/Schakowsky
Still my choice.

She's great and would really wake people up and shake things up.

We need to reach out to the rest of the world right now, and since the VP is often the one sent on missions abroad, she could really be an asset.

Obviously, she's not well enough known for the standard "value-added" approach to choosing a running mate, but she'd definitely bring something to the party.

21. I'd like to see Clark
on the ticket but I don't see it happening. He'd be terrific against whatever wingnut Repug Giuliani picks as a running mate.

I haven't picked a candidate either and I'm not holding out for Clark or Gore to get into the race because I don't think either of them will. I just haven't decided yet.
