Top 10 reasons to Support Hillary for President.
1. To end the war in Iraq.

2. To achieve universal, affordable health care.

3. To create good jobs for middle-class Americans with the right investments in modern infrastructure and in new clean, energy efficient technologies that reduce our dependence on foreign oil and combat global warming.

4. To provide world-class education, from universal pre-kindergarten to affordable college for all.

5. To promote 21st century scientific innovation, including stem cell research.

6. To return fiscal responsibility, move back toward a balanced budget, and safeguard Social Security and Medicare for future generations.

7. To restore competence and end cronyism in Government, with a President who cares about and works for Americans who have been invisible to this Administration.

8. To combat terrorism, strengthen our military, and care for our veterans.

9. To restore Americas standing in the world and repair our alliances.

10. To build a more tolerant, united America, working to achieve big goals again, with a President who's ready to lead from day one.

12. A great illustration of why people can't stand the Hillary campaign
It's not just that they're trying to ram a triangulating corporate shill down our throats. It's that they think we're fucking retarded. Going after the dumbass vote is how REPUBLICANS win elections, not Democrats.

86. 2. To achieve universal, affordable health care.
Unless it says single payer and that payer appears the US government it will not help everyone.

Anyone can offer universal healthcare but that could mean that you have to pay for it.

Massachussetts universal health care as far as I recall does not get paid by Massachussetts. It forces everyone to have health care but does not pay for everyone to have it.

84. Bingo. Lets take it by the numbers:

"1. To end the war in Iraq."
Hillary has no plans to end the War/Occupation of Iraq.
She has reassured AIPAC/MIC/Exxon that she will keep Combat Troops in Iraq indefinitely to:
*Fight AlQaeda (whoever she decides that is)
*Train Iraqis (How's that working so far?)
*To protect American (Corporate) interests. (Read: to enforce the "oil Law" which legitimizes the theft of Iraqi Oil)

"2. To achieve universal, affordable health care.
Has anyone seen Hillary's HealthCare plan? I haven't. I don't think she has made it public.
Why not go public with a HealthCare Plan? Its an important issue. Voters need to know.
Maybe its because of all the money Hillary has taken from the FOR PROFIT healthcare industry.
This is a pretty good indicator that the Hillary HealthCare plan will be an enhancement for the CEOs of the FOR PROFIT system, like taxpayer funds diverted to the pockets of the FOR PROFIT Industry to subsidize healthcare for some people. She may call it "Universal HealthCare, but it is not.
These types of "Affordable HealthCare" plans do NOTHING to bring down the high cost of the FOR PROFIT system.

3. To create good jobs for middle-class Americans with the right investments in modern infrastructure and in new clean, energy efficient technologies that reduce our dependence on foreign oil and combat global warming."
Hillary may actually do this, but she has also pledged to send many good American jobs to India. Maybe American Workers will get lucky and we will break even, but that hasn't happened yet with the Pro-Free Traders.

"4. To provide world-class education, from universal pre-kindergarten to affordable college for all."
This sounds great. So what's the PLAN? How is Hillary going to do this?
EVERY POLITICIAN who has EVER run for office has promised to improve Education....even George Bush....remember?
What does Hillary really mean by "universal pre-kindergarten"? does she mean "Universal FREE pre-kindergarten"?
I will need to see the nuts and bolts of Hillary's Education Plan before I buy this one.

"5. To promote 21st century scientific innovation, including stem cell research."
Doesn't EVERY Democratic Candidate support this? Why is this a reason to vote for Hillary in the Primaries?

"6. To return fiscal responsibility, move back toward a balanced budget, and safeguard Social Security and Medicare for future generations."
Again, is there a Democratic Candidate who opposes this? Why support Hillary as this is a common issue.

"7. To restore competence and end cronyism in Government, with a President who cares about and works for Americans who have been invisible to this Administration."
Hillary is a part of the MACHINE. Her connections to the DLC and romance with Corporate lobbyists convince me that little will change. Bush's Republican cronies will be replaced by FOR PROFIT DLC cronies. Admittedly, Clinton's cronies will be more competent than Bush's, but I want REAL change in our government and some of our other candidates don't have such a strong allegiance to The MACHINE (Status Quo).

"8. To combat terrorism, strengthen our military, and care for our veterans."
This one is REALLY scary. Some DUers believe that Hillary is just pandering to the Right. Isn't she supposed to pander to the LEFT during Primaries, and then RUN right after the nomination?
I believe she is SERIOUS! She plans to INCREASE the military by 100,000 and INCREASE the Defense Budget. She plans to funnel even MORE money (which we don't have) into the pockets of the MIC.
She plans to continue the Bush legacy of the Military approach to "Fighting Terrorism" instead of a saner Kerry like approach of International Law Enforcement. Expect the "War on Terror" to surge during a Clinton administration. Her strong connections to AIPAC demand this.

"9. To restore Americas standing in the world and repair our alliances."
How is this different from any other candidate?

"10. To build a more tolerant, united America, working to achieve big goals again, with a President who's ready to lead from day one."
Hillary has record HIGH negatives. 25% absolute HATE Hillary and will NEVER change, another 20% merely dislike her strongly. Hillary will NEVER unite America. She will be fighting the Screaming Right Wing Haters from Day 1. EVERY other Democratic Candidate has a BETTER chance of "UNITING" America than Hillary.
Wanting a "more tolerant, United America" is a reason to vote AGAINST Hillary.

I congratulate you on your post...really. Most Pro-Hillary posts are void of issues. I respect anyone who will argue ISSUES and not just spout empty pablum copied from a campaign website.

Sorry, it's not Hillary (TM) specifically, it's the whole marketing tone the endless campaign has to take so we might keep our interest going for two years....But, Hillary(TM) is a brand and by golly, she's lookin' to be Number One......I guess that's what it takes these days, it makes me fucking sick though, and frankly, the GOP is better at branding.

89. The reason I politely asked for links
was, at the time, I was at work. I can go to DU and post when I'm not doing my job answering phones, but can't go googling things and stuff like that. I was hoping you would cite her official website so that I could be sure I had the "real deal" and could find her positions on issues easily so that I could go read them. Now that I am home, of course I have the time and ability to do so. I'm just informing you of my reason so that you would realize that sometimes the request for citations is because of limitations as I described above, and that merely a courtesy was asked for.

Now try asking them this one "Why should I vote for someone who approved 'the patriot act' and voted for the Iraq war?"

You'll never get a straight answer. The best I got was "She realizes she made a choice that she, at that time, thought was best for the American people." Yeah...right...

I do believe the Rethugs think they can beat her like a dog, but even if she wins they're still going to be in great shape. She'll keep all of their greedhead trade and corporate programs in place while providing them with the best money making/party building tool since her hubby was in office.

Nothing would do more to restore KKKarl's dream of a permanent rethug majority than nominating Hillary for president.

90. English 101 lesson: Your vs. You're
I know. It's so hard. I mean (drum shuffle...)

Your is when you talk about someone's stupidity. Like "your stupidity about _______ is embarrassing and vapid."

The usage of the term "you're" refers to what some may refer to as "slang" or a shortcut for "you are".

Your = a singular possessive term

You're = refers to "you are"

Take this test to see if you can pass:

Sorry, but those are pretty much the most generic reasons for supporting someone. You could change the title to "Reasons to support _____" and they could be for any democratic candidate. THEY'RE ALL SAYING ALL OF THAT. Are you really that naive that you would think these would convince people? Aside from that, i'm convinced hillary would do the least out of any of those 10 out of any of the democratic candidates.

I like your additional list.

Here's mine:

14. Be willing to share candy at White House meetings with ALL those in the meeting.

15. Will pet and even walk Presidential dog on a regular schedule and not be shy about cleaning up dog turds.

16. Will wake up EVERY morning with a sense of joy and appreciation to help out America AND the Universe.

17. Will wear really cool clothes that make people think you know what really good taste is.

18. Will make the janitorial staff feel like they aren't just janitorial staff when burning the midnight oil.

19. Will solve ALL the problems that need to be solved in three years so everyone can take a year off.

20. A baby's arm holdin an apple.

"3. To create good jobs for middle-class Americans..."

What about the ever expanding working-poor Americans? What about restoring Labor rights?

NAFTA is one of those places I am all for giving in to a part of the Rightwing agenda. They want individual States to compete against one another, so I say we make pro-Labor laws a condition for indivudal Provinces (in Canada) or States (in USA and Mexico) to participate in NAFTA. You want to export your goods tariff free, you have to meet a minimum wage, support Labors right to unionize, and drop those "right to work" laws.

72. You Should Work for the Campaign...It Sounds Exactly Like Press Release-Speak
I'll take another few jabs:

"End cronyism"? From the lady who brought you Lincoln bedroom rates per night and a get out of jail free card for Marc Rich? I won't even go into her connections with the health care industry, to name just one of the several lobbying groups that she has cozied with. I'll just let you know that she is ranked second in contributions from the Securities and Investments industry (behind Lieberman).

https://www.opensecrets.org/industries/recips.asp?Ind=F07&cycle=2006

"Strenghten our military"? I don't doubt that she will do this, but almost certainly in a way in which the Democratic base would not support. I won't even begin to list what actions she considers "on the table." I don't need someone who will use military action as a prop for their own "toughness."

"United America"? Do you really think Hillary is the person to unite America? Triangulation is not the same as unity.

78. um, I'm confused about some things in your list
1. To end the war in Iraq.
= She very recently, again, made the point that the surge is the right strategy, it just wasn't implemented early enough, and that we need to prepare for the next war. I'm confused how that squares with your #1. Actually, it appears to be the diametric opposite.

2. To achieve universal, affordable health care.
= Cool. What is her plan?

3. To create good jobs for middle-class Americans with the right investments in modern infrastructure and in new clean, energy efficient technologies that reduce our dependence on foreign oil and combat global warming.
= Cool, that would be great. BUt How will she actually do that, when she supports NAFTA and outsourcing currently? What energy efficient technologies are you talking about?

4. To provide world-class education, from universal pre-kindergarten to affordable college for all.
= Cool. how is she going to do that?

5. To promote 21st century scientific innovation, including stem cell research.
= Cool. promoting them how? Government grants for research would be a good start. What is her plan?

6. To return fiscal responsibility, move back toward a balanced budget, and safeguard Social Security and Medicare for future generations.
= Cool.

7. To restore competence and end cronyism in Government, with a President who cares about and works for Americans who have been invisible to this Administration.
= Cronyism is a thorny issue for both sides of the aisle. Historically, its always been there, and was when Bill was president. Traditionally, plum positions are given to those who work hard or donate huge to campaigns. If she is saying she will not do that, I applaud her. However, that's an easy promise to make BEFORE election, and impossible to prevent AFTER the election.

8. To combat terrorism, strengthen our military, and care for our veterans.
= Now, see, here's the problem: how do you reconcile your reason number 8 and your reason number 1? For the record, I think you're more accurate here. I do believe she believes in strenghtening our military, in order to tackle the "next war". She is a bit too hawkish for my blood.

9. To restore Americas standing in the world and repair our alliances.
=Cool. How? refer back to number 8. In lightof that, how is she going to repair alliances? by strengthening our military? not gonna work.

10. To build a more tolerant, united America, working to achieve big goals again, with a President who's ready to lead from day one.
= Tolerance is a good thing. Somehow, though, I find that an odd claim from the DLC, who kept telling us progressives to abandon gay rights in order to win elections, that we didn't win anyways (presidential). I have to scratchmy head at a DLC candidate spouting "tolerance" when every "centrist" dem spends a great deal of time attacking the "looney left" . Not a very tolerant history, there.
