Mitt Romney is the candidate with the highest level of core opposition.
Survey data released today shows that Mitt Romney has surpassed Hillary Clinton as the candidate with the highest level of core opposition. Forty-four percent (44%) of voters nationwide now say they will definitely vote against Romney.

Certainly bolsters the belief that the better known a candidate gets, the higher the disapproval.

1. How much of this can you ascribe to the fundie Christian wing of the GOP...
refusing to back a candidate who isn't properly Christian in their eyes?

6. Quite a bit. Conservative Catholics and evangelicals do not like Mormons at all.

This will worsen as more people learn that he's Mormon, by the way.

And theologically, Mormons are not properly Christian. Christianity has more in common with Islam than it does with Mormonism. This isn't just some perception that they're "weird" or a disagreement over authority of the Pope here.

2. Obama comes out on top at -6, compared to Clinton at -10 (core support minus core opposition).
On a net basis (core support minus core opposition) Obama comes out on top at minus 6 (29 for, 35 against). He is followed by Clinton at minus 10 (33 for, 43 against), Giuliani at minus 11 (26 for, 37 against), and Thompson at minus 13 (20 for, 33 against).

3. That's cool.
That dank tuft of rectal pubic hair deserves all the negativity he gets.

4. Or that
people reject candidates who attempt to have it all ways on all issues, as Romney has certainly done, and that name recognition and ad campaigns can't fix that.
