Digg This Video: War hawk admits Hardball that Iraq was about imperialism, not WMD
Today on Hardball with Chris Matthews, Iraq war hawk and former soldier Mark Finelli admits that Bush's invasion of Iraq was a deliberate act of imperialism to provide a location in order to locate US soldiers in the region justified by a Saudi threat to kick out America's 20,000 troops.

He cited the book "America's Secret War" for more reading on the subject.

1. "We got kicked out of Saudi Arabia so ..."
"we had to have a new place to station our troops."

3. That doesn't prevent it from being the underlying reason...
I think an imperialistic philosophy is a big part of the NeoCon plan.

4. you're damn straight it was the underlying reason!
the US maintains more than 700 bases all over the world. we are an empire albeit a failing empire.

we went to Iraq to dominate a centrally positioned country in the Middle East and to procure Iraq's oil.

7. Don't forget those words that were repeated early-on in this miserable
nightmare-era, by a White House insider quoting another White House insider: "we're an empire now..."

I think the person being quoted was probably kkkarl rove. Yep, they had these grand designs of Pax Americana where we were going to make sure, by hook or by crook (no kidding on THAT one!!!) that we had cornered the market everywhere and anywhere, especially regarding oil. We were gonna set it up so that by God we would remain number one around the world, and any - ANY nation or entity regarded as a threat to our supremacy and world dominance would be neutralized proactively. Sounds like a helluva lot of fun, doesn't it? :sarcasm:
