Rove is indisputably a media manipulator. History demonstrates that conclusively, evidence is abundant. My initial remark was not belittling him or his work, but hysterical DUers who attribute everything but changes in the directions of the breeze to his machinations, and who assume that if their pet cause isn't front page above the fold in perpetuity it's evidence of chicanery and not just ordinary news cycles.

12. Firstly, I have no pet issue.

Secondly, I don't think Rove manipulates media any more effectively that any other Presidential administration in modern history has. In fact, I'd say FDR was much more adept at manipulating the media than Rove. I think the coverage of Rove himself and his "genius" has been off the charts because of the advent of internet news the need to fill a 24-hour news cycle like there never has been prior to this administration, but I don't think Rove himself is that far above the curve in this regard. The only thing I will give him credit for is ensuring that messages are as brief as possible, so as to get the best bang for one's buck in a news clip. But that has nothing to do with him pushing media outlets to focus on some stories over others.

Finally, I'm still not sure how you can claim he's a master at manipulating media while simultaneously belittling DUers for thinking he is manipulating the media. Sure, DUers can and do often go overboard with just about everything, but how can you blame people for thinking Rove is doing something that you seem to fully acknowledge he has the ability to do?
