This post is a total buzzkill. Do not read if you wish to remain happy about Rove "leaving".
This means nothing regarding an increase in freedom or a return to Constitutional values. Nothing.

This means that they are getting comfortable enough in what they've established, that they can leave the active scene and revel in the results.

The old boy's network is in place and functioning. The corporations are at new levels of freedom and unaccountability. Disaster capitalists are continuing to rake it in, out of our taxpayer dollars. They've sold the coutry out from under us, taken the money, invested it in corporations that will continue to steal even more of our freedom, and left us with the 9 trillion dollar debt.

The parasites have become bloated enough from their vampirism of the country that they're falling off to go happily rest and breed.

This is very bad news. It means that they're confident in their acheivments and as always, don't care who knows it because there's not much that we can do, short of taking over the lawmaking process ourselves to correct all of it.

I don't hear a single Democratic candidate talking about repealing the laws which funnel money to the Republicans and repealing corporate feedbags, other than Dennis Kucinich. At all. At all.

What does this mean? It means that even if a Democrat comes into office, the Repubican corporate machine will continue to function, eating our freedom and tax dollars, regardless of whatever other benefit the Democrat can install. Carlyle is bidding on Virgin Communications. This means that George Bush can listen to your phone calls. Period.

The machine is in place and only one man is talking about dismantling it.

Much less imprisoning those who have destroyed the country and left us with the work of repairing it, at our own expense.

They're "going to Disneyland", folks, not jail. We have still accomlished nothing other than the hope that the 2008 vote will fix everything. Just like we wished Pelosi would, and Conyers would, and the Plame investigation would, and the DSM would, and lack of WMD would, etc.

Wake up and smell the cat box. The economy is in an extremely dangerous position. And if it falls, guess who will profit wildly from it? As they have at ever single turn...

I love this country. I really like DU. I just wish that we could somehow return the country to Democracy, not Corpocracy.

2. I have been approaching the Rove departure with much caution
This criminal is not done. He is not simply going away. He has plans to continue to do his evil, we just don't know where he will turn up.

You are correct, there is no joy in America today, the quagmire continues, the Constitution is still in peril, maybe even more now simply because we don't know what Karl is up to.

3. So maybe getting FISA "updated" means that they are bulletproof and can let Rove go
They needed him to intimidate/blackmail certain Dems, and now his job is done.

10. Always, always work against them. Never give up.
It's just that we need to work where we can be effective, such as in taking back the voting process and the Supreme Court, you know, the things that were created to serve the people...

5. agreed
Rove is leaving the WH to work behind the scenes on the campaign. This does NOT mean he is throwing in the towel; it means he has more important things to do - and they have NOTHING to do with his family!

If they don't win the election, he'll be running the strategy for the next election, just as he did when Clinton won. Incessent harrassment of the dem pres, stifling progressive moves wherever possible, while grooming the next sock puppet. He has always had a 100-year plan, and minor setbacks like poppy getting beat or bush being a complete imbecile and the neocons moving too fast with their agenda thinking 9/11 gave them carte blanche are just that - minor setbacks. They mean to rule the world with a global aristocracy and are not going quietly into the night.

Even scarier - rove MAY be going to concentrate on orchestrating the event to rationalize invoking the emergency powers - thus completing the coup. I think if they do that, they'll pretty quickly move to put someone else in charge. Not any of the current crop of bumblers - probably a current CEO

13. Powell worked for AOL/TimeWarner, which IIRC, according to Michael Moore
in Fahrenheit 9/11, is majority owned by the middle eastern countries.

Considering the people who have invested in W this entire time, I wouldn't be at all suprised.

The position will remain empty. Cheney will continue to run operations without Rove's help. If there is a change in admin, the operation will continue to run along the exact same line with just a D instead of R in the WH.

11. to be fair...
"Wake up and smell the cat box. The economy is in an extremely dangerous position. And if it falls, guess who will profit wildly from it? As they have at ever single turn..."

To be fair, per the FED, the total of bad mortgages now under fire accounts for under 4% of all mortgages and less than 1% of the total investment total in the U.S. Looks blown way out of proportion to me.

20. I was being mildly sarcastic to a very single-pointed example of why "everything is okay".
Ignoring the minute detail and all that. You could say that nearly 1 trillion dollars of debt regarding Iran and Afghanistan could hurt the economy...the economist in Fahrenheit 9/11 said that if you pulled that much from the economy, it would be very very bad (regarding the amount of money the Arabians have invested in the US, if they should suddenly pull it away).

The money spent on the invasions is nearly that amount, gone from the economy into the pockets of disaster capitalists and Bush cronies. The economy is proportionally weakened. Add to the fact that they are now controlling the availability of oil, the economy is in a dreadful position.

This is exactly why I wanted to avoid answering the seeming troll. Oh well. If you've been paying attention, you'll already know all of this.

Corporate Greed...the American people are truly LEARNING who the enemy is. I'm actually somewhat hopeful.

Just wait until the People's pensions and college endowments are gone...they'll LEARN real fast.

Edit to spell.

26. I am glad to see him go
if for no other reason than I'm sick of that bastard's face.

Yet, I suffer no delusions that his departure will actually change anything.

I don't think many people honestly think anything will get substantively better just because he's in Texas instead of DC.

And yet, as John Edwards so succinctly put it...goodbye, and good riddance.
