Having a sharp sense of ones immediate environment, plus a sharp feel for the pulse of the nation, would be priceless.

The courage to do the right thing (especially when no one is looking), the courage to surround yourself with wisdom that speaks NO when needed instead of YES, the courage to be the voice for those who have no voice, for doing what you say, and say what you will do.

Where is that person?

I thought at one time that person might be Al Gore......but no more.

Certainly not in 2007.....because if he had courage and intution....he would propel himself past the noise and the chatter right into a course of righteous action, into the frey and debate this country so badly needs.

Weighing and measuring, sticking your finger in the wind, saying "not now, but someday"....is disingenuous.

If not now? Then when?

If not now? Why?

What is magic about later?

We can not wait, and it is cruel to ask of those who need it the most, that they will still have to scrap and fight for intellectual food, and moral courage.

Al Gore is a bit more substantial in his figure, and a bit more secure in his bank account, and a lot more substantial and secure in his knowledge of the enviornment.....but no more substantial and secure in his courage and intuition as he was during that awful time in the hours and days after the 2000 election.

I am waiting for the next President-want-to be to display the ground breaking courage and intuition needed in order to earn my vote.
A few have been close, but IMO, one has really set themself apart with true courage and intuition.

I hope and pray to God, for my country, our soldiers, our poor, our health care system...that we don't have to struggle to recognize those qualities, that those qualities rise and shine and become true in leadership.
