"The ghosts of the Duke University rape case continue to haunt the press and Mike Nifong, the ex-county prosecutor who charged three white lacrosse players with raping a Black exotic dancer last year.

"In his aggressive attempt to jail those “hooligans hiding behind a wall of silence,” Nifong withheld key evidence from the defense. Last week, a judge began hearing arguments to decide if Nifong is in criminal violation. Thursday, Nifong issued a public apology in court for falsely accusing the men.

"Could it be, though, that Nifong’s real offense is not misconduct, but rather treating three middle class white defendants as if they were poor and Black?"

1. from what I can tell, Nifong's offense is trying to make a name for himself

typical prosecutor conduct when a crime makes national headlines.

I'm glad this asshole's blatant attempt to enhance his career at the expense of prosecutorial ethics was stopped cold in its tracks. If there's any justice in the world, this enema bag of a lawyer's bar card will be permanently revoked.

2. It's unfortunate

that the vast majority of them who all still do the same thing.

They get away with it because they pull their standard operating procedures against those who don't have the resources or pull that the Duke athletes had...because their normal victims are poor, brown or black...
