Latest Bully George Comic takes up Kevin Cooper, Prop 58 and Howard Dean
The latest episode hits the nail on the head. The biggest threat to the Democratic Party today is the problem with our leaders selling us out. Phil Angelides was the only Democratic state official in California who did NOT endorse Arnold's Prop 58, which puts a cap on spending so that any further budget balancing will come off the needy and not from those who can afford it. Education and health care are expected to take the biggest hit and corporate big shots will continue to get a free ride. Even Steve Wesley, our Democratic State Controller, is doing sickening ads with Arnold for Prop 58.

I think the comic hit the real reason for Dean's downfall: Dean's mouth. On the Tonight Show where Edwards was the guest, Leno characterized Dean's tactics as "vicious." Whether accurate or not, that's how a lot of people see Dean and it's not the sort of campaign approach that is likely to win a candidate a lot of votes. He might get more votes by being nice to people.

The comic is definitely worth viewing.

8. Neither is Dean's attitude.
He seems to be self-destructing.

3. I don't think they were expecting Dean loyalists to agree.
However, I do think they correctly reflected how Dean is coming across. Dean needs to be more respectful of the other candidates.

5. Please review the rules
before referring to other posters as "loyalists."

6. Loyalists are people who are loyal to a candidate. It's okay to be loyal.
It is not a swipe. It just indicates that some people strongly support their candidates. Some people might call me a Kucinich loyalist because I will vote for him no matter what happens in the primaries that occur before mine.

I cannot believe that the rules would be so ridiculous as to disallow the word loyalist (a neutral term) and allow non-stop attacks on the frontrunner.

4. I'm impressed about the coverage they gave the Kevin Cooper case.
When are the candidates going to take up this issue? DK wants to abolish the death penalty. But this goes beyond support for or opposition to the death penalty. Cooper is innocent and the police have been caught throwing out evidence in the case. Though it might be controversial, it might be a great time for a candidate to take up the issue of discrimination within the criminal justice system, where a black guy is almost executed for a crime believed to have been committed by the Aryan Brotherhood. All the candidates should call for an independent investigation in the case.

7. Kerry, Edwards, Clark, Kucinich, Daschle and Kennedy come off well.
Kevin Cooper and 58 are important in California. The national candidates need to take notice of both.
