This is the worst pResidential election season I've EVER seen
I've watched this game since '56 --

I like Ike and Stevenson's the one...
JFK over that slime nixon...
Hey, Hey, LBJ, How many kids you kill today... I'll vote for Gene -- oops, Bobby -- bang, oops -- Hubert??? Gak!!!
1968 -- and cops beating heads on election day after it's called for nixon
nixon/Mondale <--- wha?
ford (the traitor) and Jimmy Who?
ray-gun -- SHIT didn't we finally have enough of him in California??? Not that???!!!!?!?!?!
bush/(don't ride in the stupid, fucking tank)Dukakis (he's too short)????
Clinton -- the Man From Hope -- dashes all Hopes...
bush II???
bush II again??? How fucking crazy ARE Amerikans???

-------------

I'm burnt out on this shit already and we haven't even reached what used to be the START of the pResidential race in the good 'ole days (like 2004)...

I'm sick of the BS, I'm sick of so-called debates that are nothing but sound bites, I'm sick of triangulating and monstrous amounts of fund raising from the corporate capitalist masters...

I'm sick of the polls that mean nothing 'cause we ain't even close to anything resembling an election!!!

I'm sick of the fact that the only poll that means anything in this screwed up alleged democracy is the fund raising from the corporate capitalist masters...

I'm sick of the stupid my candidate's the great white/brown hope and your candidate sucks here at DU.

I'm sick of contemplating the fact that because the only poll that counts is the fund raising from the corporate capitalist masters the next pResident will be ... wait for it ... drum roll ...

ObamClintWards!!!! The FIX IS IN!!!!

Hooray, we don't have to think about or vote for stupid principles like Peace or Justice...

the Fix IS IN!!!

I'm sick, sick, sick and tired of all of it...

I'm seceding....bye :puke: :puke: :puke:

----------------

I'm not seceding from DU (although I should -- what a timewaster sometimes), just from this bullshit pResidential race until 1 week before the first primary/caucus/fistfight -- whatever is officially binding...

Bye (really) bye. :puke: :puke: :puke:

5. It has all entered the realm of...
Tedium for me. I want to hear, I mean really want to hear, some passion from these people. Nothing less than Peter Finch "Network" passion. Without that, this is about as interesting and edifying as watching paint dry. Especially in these times. You know, a little "J'accuse". Lay it all out and on the line. Not against each other, but exactly where the problems lie.

And as regards "Attack Supporters": If I want pain like that, I'll go get a root canal, sans anaesthesia, thanks very much.

3. A-Freakin'-men!
The latest poll/latest endorsement/latest gaffe/latest dust-up/latest debate/latest pseudo-scandal bullcrap has become overwhelming.

I'll care when I need to, not when the MSM or the DU candidate zealots tell me I should.

Thanks for a fine post. Should be pinned to the top of GDP until primary season actually begins.

... ridiculous.

I love it how the notion of distancing from a message board or even just politics in general for awhile is considered the equivalent of talking one's own life.

6. Bravo!! Well said and I am in complete agreement with you!
I have been shutting off the television whenever they start talking about the candidates. Its a convenient diversion for the MSM so they don't have to devote too much time to the myriad scandals of the Bush Administration IMO.

14. I'm gonna really try hard not to be
It's just a time-waster...

I'm giving money to the only one I like. I'll vote for him in the Primaries. I'll sleep good because I'm voting my principles...

That's all I can hope for here in the belly of the beast...

It really is a time waster but I still find it interesting. I do the same as you with the voting and donations. I voted for Kooch last time around because Clark was already out by my election date. Have fun on your hiatus.

8. And then you won't like the nominee
and will proceed to spend every waking moment of the entire year bitching about every move the candidate makes - the one the stupid Democrats shouldn't have nominated in the first place according to you - except when you have a chance to change that all you do is bitch about that too.

Kinda like that???

Pssht.

No wonder Will Pitt left.

13. In elections
Starting Jan 18, with Super Tuesday being Feb 5, at which time it will be extremely difficult to beat anyone who has a substantial lead. So if you want a specific candidate to win, you need to be organizing and fundraising NOW.

18. Do you mean "the People" choosing the candidates
No, not really.

$$$$$ choose the candidates...

$$$$$ are owned and controlled by the corporate capitalist masters...

We will get the corporate capitalist approved and vetted candidates...to "choose" from...

It's not a rude question at all...

29. And front-loading the election like this only makes it worse
Typically this far out the front-runners are the candidates with name recognition. Think Lieberman in 2004. (Ecch! Sorry about that!)

But the other candidates are given time to gain momentum, build an infrastructure, and make themselves known to the American public.

Not any more!

This new process has rendered the primaries practically pointless. The votes have largely been cast already -- with dollars instead of ballots.

33. Whine about the first primary state
Whine that it's too white. Whine that more states have been added to the early primaries. Whine that there's too much money involved. Whine that ground work is the only alternative to money. Whine that ground work means time. Whine that it takes more time to campaign for an early primary. Whine when your candidate isn't known and can't raise money because you're busy whining about the process instead of doing the groundwork required to win. whine whine whine, bitch bitch bitch. That's all this thread is.

Among Democratic voters, and the record amounts of money they are contributing at this early stage...I would say you are in a distinct minority!

21. Oh, you apologists for the "system" are soooooo easy
You don't really think all of that early money is from "mom and pop" do you???

It big business money -- PACs, Lobbyists, Corporations bundling bucks to buy influence...

It's the same kind of big bucks that Slick Willie raised from Mr. (killer Tyson) Chicken in Arkansas to catapult his big bad self into the nomination in '92...

I'd be willing to bet $100 that not one in 20 Americans give a shit at this stage.

Count me in with the 19 after this thread...

Bye, bye :puke:

20. they all seem horrid when you're in the midst of them
And I have some bad news. Things are only going to get more crazy.

I don't care as much for the primary horse race as I do about the general. But I figured out what sets me off here and will remedy it. People's incessant focus on one entity that is always negative and damaging and ugly Rove politics get on my last nerve. And I confront them.

This is such an unprecedented opportunity for the Democrats. I thank the people here who taught me to think bigger, nicely, patiently; that's the kind of persuasion that works on me.

Things have never been worse and at the same time the sky is the limit. Damn it's exciting. And scary. Don't let depression keep you off the ride.

To anyway who gives a crap I say hang in there and keep fighting. But, do it nicer because it reaches more people than hitting them upside the head with it. I'm actually kinda bored with the ugly here. Less filling.

30. My point is
that we used to be able to wait until about 6-9 months before the election until we began to be "in the midst of them"...

The first primary is still nearly 6 BLOODY MONTHS AWAY!!!! And that in a pipsqueek, whites ONLY state...

Damn...

34. This is the most important election in a long time, perhaps ever.
It certainly deserves some attention. The time to get involved is now, not a week before the primaries.

As others have mentioned, if you don't like it now, you certainly won't like it in the next few months. In the '04 primary season, this place was a madhouse, and it appears that the craziness of '04 is going to pale in comparison to '08.
