Military Religious Freedom Foundation----Urgent Press Release

DoD Inspector General Finds Misconduct by Pentagon Generals Participating in “Christian Embassy” Promo Video:
Military Religious Freedom Foundation’s Exposé Vindicated

At last, truth to power. As Mark Twain so presciently said, “A lie goes half-way around the world before truth gets its boots on.” The Military Religious Freedom Foundation’s (MRFF’s) (http://www.militaryreligiousfreedom.org) long diligence in requesting investigation has now resulted in the US Department of Defense Inspector General’s determination of misconduct on the part of high-ranking Pentagon personnel. For four years, MRFF Founder Mikey Weinstein has worked to ensure the Constitutional guarantees of religious freedom to which all Americans are entitled.

1. I remember how hard it was for me to get the Military to put NONE on my Dog tags.
Looks like much hasn't changed. The None was my Religious belief.

5. Hmmm I had no difficulty getting mine changed....
...from Catholic to Nutopianism. I put in the request as a lark and was amazed when I got my new dog tags back with Nutopianism on them as my religion! If memory serves, (it's been awhile), John Lennon and Yoko Ono came up with "Nutopia" as some kind of strange philosophy. A Nutopian was a "Citizen of the Earth" and as such recognized no boundaries. I do not think there was any religion involved in being a Nutopian, or none that I was aware of which for me only increased the fun. This all took place for me back in the early '70s...likely a teen in uniform today, with the same attitudes I had back then, would find this harder to get away with.

2. This is an interesting issue.
I read something about a Wiccan (or neo-Pagan) soldier who died in Iraq. The family had a very hard time fighting with the DoD to allow them to place their religion's symbol on his tombstone.

Seems like the military is totally controlled by fundamentalists (kind of like Pakistan's military, LOL).

3. I love Mikey Weinstein - he's one of the best lawyers around.
His son went to the Air Force Academy, and they initiated a suit to stop the ultra-right religious bullying at the Academy.

We hear about him quite a bit at Americans United for Separation of Church and State ( www.au.org ).
