Iowa women line up behind Hillary

More than 100 Iowa woman, most with credentials in politics, have agreed to be on a team whose mission is to recruit other women to support Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Each woman is charged with encouraging friends to become more active in Clinton�s campaign and to drive turnout for Clinton at the January caucuses.

The campaign calls the group the Womens Leadership Council for Team Hillary.
Through our social networks, community involvement, church groups and family ties we are determined to organize women who have attended the caucuses before and bring new women into the caucus process to support Hillary Clinton, former Iowa Attorney General Bonnie Campbell stated in a news release.


Among those on the team are Ruth Harkin, State Rep. Swati Dandekar, Des Moines School Board member Connie Boesen, Cedar Rapids Mayor Kay Halloran and business leader Susan Knapp.

2. Well, it's the way politics is done. And there is no substitute for it, with the caveat that it be
done well. It doesn't mean she'll win the Caucus or ultimately the general election. But this type of lining up of local supporters simply MUST be done for a candidate to be successful. If she has networks like this in every state needed for electoral college victory, she will be hard to beat. It will make the other candidates, if they are smart and don't fall in love with themselves too much, to work even harder at rounding up such support locally.

I am writing this as an undecided Democrat come our early September Connecticut primary. But this I do know: no candidate can win without this level of political sophistication and expertise. "Feeling good" about a candidate without this backup has never seemed to work.

Put me down as a "sadder but wiser" liberal on this issue.

Also, Veterans groups, Native American Tribes, GLBT Groups and of course, Womens Groups.
