This is the only reason Gonzo has not been fired or replaced. Bush and Cheney are using him to deflect and buy time for themselves.

1. The problem with that theory

The problem with that theory is that there is no reason that impeachment trials (two or three of them) cannot be held at the same time. It could be a little awkward since charges against the three are separate and there are very few charges that would be common to all three. Cheney's name had not even been mentioned in the DoJ scandals until this week.
