Romney and Thompson on Collision Course
From UPI:

Romney and Thompson on collision course
WASHINGTON, July 20 (UPI) -- Winning the backing of religious conservatives in the United States has sparked a battle between Republican presidential hopefuls Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson.

Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, is credited with firing the opening salvo when he questioned the pro-life credentials of former Thompson, a former U.S. senator from Tennessee, The Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

Thompson, who is expected to enter the GOP race, first denied and later confirmed that he had lobbied for the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association in the early 1990s.

He would be the only Southerner in the race, if he enters, and polls show he has a strong appeal to religious conservatives.

Many on the right expressed unhappiness with the party's front-runner, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, an abortion rights supporter.

"In many ways, the Romney campaign and the emerging Thompson campaign are on a collision course when it comes to campaigning for this constituency of conservative Christians," John C. Green of the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life, told the Times.

Oh boy! Who's gonna win the fundie marbles? Both abortion flip-floppers, but Fred "Scrotum Face" Thompson is also an acknowledged liar on the issue. However, Mitt "DogShitt" Romney stubbornly remains a Mormon, much to the chagrin of people who take the Bible very literally and don't remember golden plates, special underwear and whatnot. This will be a knock-down, drag-out--and I shall enjoy it.

5. In a true death match between Romney and Thompson
the only real winner would be the Amurkin people.

I can't tolerate either one of them. Romney looks like the phoniest mofo that ever attempted a run for national office, and Thompson 's fake hillbilly act makes me want to puke. Besides every time I see Freddie I'm reminded of the Billy Big Mouth Bass some asshole gave me as a joke retirement gift a few years ago.

9. I think these two
are going to go down a-kickin' and a-gougin' in the mud and the blood and the beer. Hopefully there will be fatal wounds. Mitt is a ruthless shape shifter, and Fred will rely on down-home witticisms and the "I don't recall" Alzheimer's card (a GOPer favorite). Rudy will stay above the fray, I predict. His cross-dressing pretty much took him out of contention for this crowd.
