most of which are critical of Giuliani's role in preparing the city for the horrific tragedy of 9/11.

Firefighters Take On Giuliani

By Marc Santora

In a video that is by turns emotional, scathing and at times factually incomplete, the nation’s largest firefighters union is appealing to its members across the country not to support the candidacy of Rudolph W. Giuliani.

The video by the International Association of Fire Fighters, called “Rudy Giuliani: Urban Legend,” strikes directly at the heart of the Giuliani campaign for President: his leadership of New York City after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, in which hundreds of firefighters died. The union, which has often backed Democratic candidates, hopes the video will be more widely disseminated to the general public through the Internet.

The Giuliani campaign responded forcefully even before the video was released, calling on two loyalists with long ties to the New York City Fire Department to rebut the charges. The Giuliani campaign was also quick to point out that the union endorsed John Kerry in the last election and has supported Senator Hillary Clinton.

The video cost about $70,000 to produce and the union said it used funds from its Political Action Committee, not dues from members.

3. the NYC firefighters supported Rudy Giuliani in all three of his campaigns
Well, I read that the NYC firefighters supported Rudy Giuliani in all three of his campaigns to be mayor -- in 1993 (Rudy lost that one), 1993 and 1997.

If anyone has heard that they did not support Rudy in those elections, please provide a link.

4. The firefighters' support for him makes their 9/11 criticisms of Giuliani all the more credible.
