Novakula:Republicans predict gloom and doom in 2008...triple whammy...
Edited on Mon Jul-09-07 05:46 PM by SaveElmer
I feel soooo bad for them... :sarcasm:

It is hard to cut the gloom among Republicans on Capitol Hill about the 2008 elections. They see Democrats winning three ways -- actually increasing their margins in both the House and Senate and putting Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) in the White House. These Republicans are counting on excesses of an all-Democratic government in 2009-10 leading to a GOP comeback in the 2010 election.

1. If this does happen
John Paul Stevens, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and David Souter all need to resign in Hillary's first two years so that we can have three relatively young replacements.

6. I think she'd appoint good liberal justices
I expect any Democrat to do that, after Bush got his 2 far-right crackpots (Roberts & Ailito) on the court, I want a Democratic candiate to appoint some 40-something year old ultra secular-progressive(s) to the bench....Someone who at the confirmation hearings will tell the Republicans on the judicary committee the following:

"Fuck you Senator (insert Repulican senators name here), you got your Roberts & Ailito, now it's time to balance the court out...I'm going to protect women's right to choose, & don't worry, I'm going to protect all the Republican senators porn collections (meaning that the nominee is 1st. Amendment & adult-entertainment friendly) & I'll be lenient on zoning laws so your sons, Senator (insert Republican senators name here) can still easily attend strip clubs closest to his home"....

3. "counting on excesses of an all-Democratic government"
ROFL!

Doubtful Dem's could come close to the excess perpetrated by the repubs these past two terms.

"gop comeback"
