" Hil's 'Sopranos' spoof slays Rudy, draws half-million hits"

Hillary Clinton's "Sopranos" ad turned out to be a real hit - even ex-mob buster Rudy Giuliani paid grudging tribute to the online spoof that her campaign said pulled in half-a-million visitors.

The video, copying the HBO show's quirky finale, featured Clinton as a cheeky version of Tony Soprano.

"I think Hillary Clinton's campaign has really learned how touse the Internet," said Bob Thompson, Syracuse University's pop culture sage.

How big is 500,000 hits? "It was definitely a massive spike," said Clinton Web head Peter Daou. It beat the day of the campaign's launch, he said.

"It's a ton," said Andrew Rasiej, a co-founder of Techpresident.com, which monitors such things.

Even Clinton detractor Giuliani gave the Dem her due. He joked, "Think she's trying to get the Mafia vote? I think most of them have lost the right to vote. Ihope.

"I still prefer my 'Godfather' imitation, but you know, I have a lot more practice at it," he said. Giuliani said he only saw an excerpt of the video but, "If it's an attempt to reach people with humor, I think that's great."

4. Both videos were very effective. The Abramoff images really
helped in showing him for the gangster he is. Hillary's video humanized her. Kudos to those who put this together. Good propaganda. .

The Obama "crush" video helped his campaign. They guy is a sex symbol.

5. I haven't seen it but it seems to be getting the desired results.
They talked about it on a local tv show the other night (Greater Boston,I think) and they said it was clever and showed that the Clinton's are still media savvy (nooooo, really?).They briefly mentioned the gangster angle, mostly with chuckles,so I don't think that's going to hurt them at all.

Besides,we live in a nation where thugs and criminals are almost looked upon highly,so if anything the comparison, such as it is,may help them.

6. HRC has a MEAN machine and she SLAYS ... damn!
Edited on Fri Jun-22-07 12:13 PM by ShortnFiery
And you should hear her speech to AIPAC?!? :wow:

I swear, it's just sad. As a woman who enter the US Army at the beginning times when they were transforming from WAC to being fully integrated into the ranks, I view her behavior as "disturbing."

I always maxed every PT test to the resentment of many of the men who I could outrun. However, I never went out of my way to "out machismo" the men. But yes, I detested fellow women officers who would flirt and/or marry their superior officers ... but most would usually resign and find another line of work. The women who I respected were straight talking ... many of them were attractive like myself (I was quite cute back then) but we would not "play" or take notice of the propositions. Women Leaders who I respected and felt honored to work for did not "talk tough" but were assertive, good listeners and not afraid to delegate duties (not responsibility). HRC is IMO not a woman leader to be admired. :(

I DID admire HRC during the 90s as a no-nonsense career woman who would not be intimidated by the right wing. Now, I fear she has sold her soul to greed and the basal lusting for the acquisition of political power.

I don't even recognize the woman I knew in the 90s to this seemingly swaggering mass of she-male testosterone. Sometimes, as tough (and often times swear too much) broad as I perceive myself to be, I FEAR THAT WE ARE GROOMING ANOTHER MARGARET THATCHER. :scared:

Shit! I think I need to put on another estrogen patch to reclaim my humanity <tongue-in-cheek> ... HRC's swagger is alluring to far too many intelligent and compassionately fair-minded women. :(

Or maybe intelligent and compassionate women understand the following...

Hillary has been a firm advocate on issues important to them: Reproductive choice, Equitable Pay, Health Care, Childrens issues etc

That she has been an extraordinarily competent and effective Senator

And that she knows quite well what is required for a woman to compete successfully in an arena that has been dominated by men for 231 years...

9. Interesting.
Hillary in the 90s was basically seen and not heard. She stood there taking hit after hit after hit while smiling. And that's your ideal Hillary. The one walking two steps behind her man.

Damn, that's sad.

11. That's your interpretation, not mine. Ask my retired USMC husband if I don't equally

call the shots in the family? HRC was anything but "walking two steps behind her man" while covering up his infidelities throughout the past 20+ years. Specifically, it's held on good authority that HRC even PERSONALLY confronted a couple of Bill Clinton's ex-lovers. I'm a democrat but that fact can't help but seriously creep me out. :scared:

No, HRC was also angling for the Chief of Staff position one of her supporters has informed me. I bet it was less than enjoyable being one of Bill Clinton's inner circle when you have to worry about HRC taking either your job or advice.

Male or female, I loathe both nepotism OR dynasty. I'm far from alone at NOT wanting HRC to be our first woman president. And yes, it's admittedly personal for me in a way: HRC's NOT the kind of woman I want my daughter and her friends to admire.

12. Is Giuliana trying to get female votes when he dresses up like a woman? Media savvy Rudy made a fool
of her(him)self.
