Menendez (D?) on the Senate Floor
Supposedly talking about 'oil alternatives' but interspersing it with slams at countries who have oil wealth and use that wealth to "squash democracy" and "threaten their neighbors" -- specifically citing Iran and Venezuela.

Has he drank the kool aid? :wtf:

10. He's fully on-board with the reichwingnut Cuban exiles in Miami.
The reichwingnut Miamicuban "exiles" and the hardline anti Chavez Miamivenezuelans have joined forces to form a huge anti Castro/Chavez industry.

5. If Menendez comes from a rich family, he will view Chavez as a threat.

8. No.
Maybe Menendez is overly Americanized and just has lost touch with the problems that South and Central American countries face.

They didn't leave Cuba because they liked communism.

11. He's in touch with the method to get campaign cash from the radical anti Castro/Chavez factions.
Edited on Thu Jun-14-07 10:14 AM by Mika
He comes to Miami frequently to raise money by railing against Cuba & Ven. - sounding a lot like a freeper.

Without Castro (and now Chavez) there would be less opportunity to fund raise from the wingnuts.

As much as the D & R panderers rail agin' Castro/Chavez is as much as they need them both as a platform to raise campaign cash from S Florida radical exiles.

I'm pretty sure that is why US policies against Cuba and Ven tend to unite the people of both countries behind their leaders. Status quo. Mission accomplished.... Maintaining a fund-raising hot-button issue that could be resolved via responsible/rational dialog and diplomacy, but, resolution of the standoff would end an entire political platform for fund raising in S Fla. for both Dems and repugs.

12. Ah, I didn't know this. He comes to Miami to get $ from the Cuban-American?
Is this the same Dem Menendez who had a little corruption problem prior to the election?
