Elizabeth Edwards touts husband's commitment to Iowa campaign
Tuesday, June 12, 2007
Associated Press

----
WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - Elizabeth Edwards was in Waterloo today, campaigning for her husband, Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She says her husband is committed to bringing his campaign to every corner of the state and winning Iowa's leadoff caucuses.

The Edwards campaign has placed campaign leaders in each of the state's 99 counties. It's a strategy she says gives her husband an edge over his rivals.

He followed a similar strategy in the 2004 election cycle, garnering him a surprising second-place finish in the Iowa caucuses and propelling him onto the ticket with Democratic nominee John Kerry.

Elizabeth Edwards says the former North Carolina senator will open a campaign swing Friday. She predicted he will have a shift from his focus on the Iraq war and will start talking more about health care and fighting poverty.
