Daily Kos: Dodd Out of the Fox News Debates

Dodd is out of the Fox News/CBC debate. Obama, Clinton, Edwards and Richardson had already passed.

Richardson spokeswoman Katie Roberts and Dodd spokeswoman Christy Setzer both said today their bosses won't attend.
MoveOn is trying to pressure Biden to drop out, but that's pretty stupid. Let him attend.

A debate between Biden, Kucinich, and Gravel should provide infinite entertainment.

It's a long campaign season. We'll need all the comedy we can get. And what better way to prove that Fox News is a joke than to hang them with this "debate"? The real news networks can get the real debates. Fox News can have the "reality freak show" version.

Edit to add and clarify: This is the Fox Debate scheduled for sometime this fall, and NOT the CNN debate this Sunday. Sorry for the confusion.

2. Is this the debate this Sunday?
I've been invited to a debate watch party. I was just getting ready to RSVP. If this is it, I may have to rethink my response.

4. Good news, yet hypicritical
Fox News is a right winged propagandist channel, but yet they go on Fox News Sunday, that morning show of theirs, etc. If they don't like Fox News, why go at all? Please someone answer me that.

7. Here's Kucinich's comments on his decision to do this
It's Kucinich, Gravel, and Biden in controversial Fox and Black Caucus-sponsored debate Michael Roston
Published: Tuesday May 29, 2007

Rep. Kucinich, known primarily for his push to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney and his strong anti-war position, criticized his opponents who were unwilling to show up to the CBC/Fox debate.

"Fox broadcasts the World Series, too, but is it any less of a World Series because it's on Fox? Ask the fans in St. Louis, or Anaheim, or Boston," the Ohio Democrat said in a statement released by his campaign. "Lets face it, the race for the presidency is the World Series of politics, and here you have three candidates for President who are admitting that not only can they not hit right-handed pitching, they're even afraid to step up to the plate and take a swing. Well, I'm one candidate for President who can hit any pitch anyone throws at me. And I'll be taking the field in Detroit this September with the Congressional Black Caucus."

13. he is wrong. We need to stand up to the propaganda machine
Edited on Thu May-31-07 08:15 AM by Evergreen Emerald
Fox News has a hand in destroying our democracy. The news was supposed to be the "fourth branch" that would help ensure transparency. Instead they feed the masses lies. The format, the questions, the focus of the debate will designed to put the candidates in the worst light. This is not a "debate" this is an opportunity for Fox to spread more propaganda.

The fact that Dennis K. ignores the reality of the media's contribution to the downfall of our democracy concerns me. In fact, this decision and his comments regarding the decision is enough for me to look for a different candidate.
