Add me to the chorus of who-gives-a-flying-f***
Honestly, people - if this is the "big surprise" or whatever Rove was referring to in terms of Kerry...

...then Bush is going to go down even harder than we first thought.

Nighty-night, W.

1. I think the rumors might inject a little life into Kerry's image.
A Democratic candidate messing with interns? Don't ALL Democrats do that? This might make stiff-assed New England Yankee Kerry seem a little less stiff (or more, depending upon perspective...).

2. It wasn't Rove
From what I've heard it was actually someone Clark's campaign who leaked the story. I have also heard that Gore knew about years before. Anyway, Time and other publications have been working on these for a while.

5. I know...
I was referring to Rove, who was asked recently about Kerry being the nominee, and he alluded to these sorts of things.

If KKKarl thinks America is going to go down this route again, he's sorely, SORELY mistaken. And I'm completely ready to watch him fumble the ball.

4. 95% of the Sheeple care
Perception is reality in politics. Lets not be condescendingly naive about such, but rather, face this from a realistic standpoint. We are not here to discuss the truth of it, the moral philosophy behind such, or anything to that extent, but rather, how it will resonate with the American people in regards to his electability.

Beating Bush is the goal, which JK may very well not be able to do. It is good we know this sooner than later.

I know plenty of other people aren't, but no need to assume.

14. Fine...
Try shoving that down the American people's throats in an eletion year. Good luck. :) Id rather just pick someone who hasa clean slate from the get go. Surely less effort.

19. There is nothing dishonest...
intelectually or otherwise about discussing soley how an action will be perceived, rather than the abstract notions about something we call "morality".

One is reality, and the other is irrelevant in the context of winning an eletcion.

20. If the "action" in question is based solely on rumors
from an unreliable source, then you are discussing abstract notions, not reality.

13. Fund drive thermometer has been around for like 30 years
The United Way used to have a fund drive thermometer up in my city back home when I was too young to realize it wasn't real.

Not to nit pick, but claiming creidt for that is a little silly :-D.

I'd find the thread where I came up with the idea, but I don't feel like it. One of the mods told me I should put that down as my signature. :silly:

and then trotted out a string of fresh, young, giddy interns to tug at protective, parental swing-voting heart-strings.

This was most probably a Democratic tipster concerned about an on-coming train-wreck.

Yep, let's keep pandering to the Center. Let's not support equal rights for Gays. Let's not denounce IWR and the occupation. Let's just pretend Rove leaked this and not ask ourselves if it is possible that this is precisely the reason Gore didn't pick Kerry as a running mate in '99.

Maybe if we bury our heads deep enough it will all go away like Monica Lewinsky, Donna Rice and Chandra Levy. Stories all broken by right-wings sources because we were too busy burying our heads. Stories all decried as smearful lies by Democrats until our noses were rubbed in it and we had to admit that it wasn't Republican lying eyes.

Gee... you would think that not being too hot on the sanctity of marriage, Kerry would give a little more support to Gay marriage. As a poster I respect a lot pointed out earlier, we have every right to decide if he is or isn't living up to his marriage vows. Ones he has repeatedly said ((Gays are)) unfit to take.

True? Well, Sneed is told the real reason former Dem presidential nominee Al Gore did NOT select Kerry as his veepmate was because of allegations of women problems, or marital infidelity involving Kerry's marriage to Heinz, heiress to the Heinz Ketchup fortune, whom he met in 1990.

A top source tells Sneed Gore was talking about Kerry's sexual baggage "with a young woman" as recently as late last week!

"Kerry was the favorite to be Gore's veep, but they worried a female problem could erupt, so U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman was selected instead," said the source.

"In addition to Gore backing Howard Dean for president, because he wanted access to the cadre of Dean youth called the "Deanie babies" when he runs for president again and goes up against Hillary Clinton, Gore chose Dean because he feared the Kerry female mess would rear its ugly head," the source added.
