Five members of the General Assembly and several other state Democratic leaders yesterday endorsed Hillary Rodham Clinton for president. "Hillary Clinton has the experience, compassion and vision necessary to get this country back on track," said Del. Lionell Spruill Sr. of Chesapeake. He was joined by state
Sens. Mamie Locke of Hampton and L. Louise Lucas of Portsmouth and
Dels. Albert C. Eisenberg of Arlington County and
Johnny S. Joannou of Portsmouth. Democratic National Committee Women's Caucus chair Mame Reiley of Alexandria said Clinton "is the most qualified candidate to be president." Reiley is close to former Gov. Mark R. Warner, who has not endorsed anyone.
Another DNC member, Susan Swecker of Richmond, also is supporting Clinton, a New York senator. edgr
